and plasma cannons, and rocket launchers, and.....
oh and dont forget to crank up the number to 5 from 3, because thats the standard sice, 4 marines (in the case of Devastators each with Heavy Weapon, ANY SM Inf Heavy Weapon in any mix) and a Serg...

there is only one Devastator Team in the Rooster of SM, and they already nailed it to 3 SM and all 3 carry LasCanoons. not to menation a Devastor Team with HBolter woud be more useless than CSM Havocs....

Heavy Bolters have a place for supression, pinning units, light armor damage, more range, needs setup time though, and even though it is the case I want it brooo just saying have it in my other games and its needed here. I mean not sure what is used for the editing models in this game. I would have to look that up.

Just would be great to add all that or make it a swappable weapon for the devastators...another unit would make more sense in this game since upgrades are permanent and research tied.

You understand the word BALANCE yes?

exept that Heavy Bolters dont have "supression" as long it isnt in a Sega 40K game. the GW TT Weapon dont has that Trait, and mostly Gladius takes its Rules from there...
Look what a Predator HBolter does in Gladius and you see what a Devastator Unit woud get, exact same Profiles for both in TT.
and now think again, woud you really waste your resources for 3 SMs armed with THAT? (Take into account that it its still a Heavy weapon and they woud suffer the same Movement Penalty as the actual Devastator Unit)

You would also to consider balancing the Chaos Havocs to be given the same treatment since Havocs are the 1-1 counterpart of the Devastators from the Space Marines and they're armed with autocannons not heavy bolters or lascannons

i never sayed the Gladius havocs are useable for what they cost in the first place....

Doesn't matter in that context, Havocs are the Chaos counterpart to the Space Marine Devastators, any changes like what OP wishes for to one would need to be applied to the other.

You said it in one. So many people can't understand 'chaos theory' (no pun intended) which many will know a part of as 'the butterfly effect'.

Change on simple integer - it's easy right? Sure.. but how does that flow on to the rest of the system (game). Cursed Hawkins is spot on.

You're only looking at the units from how they stand in terms of where they are designed and game balance, I'm looking at them from a LORE perspective hence why I mentioned the Havocs being the counterpart to the Devastators because in the lore THAT'S exactly what they are, they perform the same roles as their loyalist counterparts. It's why I ALWAYS argue against the decision of Chaos always getting Obliterators as their "equal" in terms of game balance to the Space Marine Terminators, Obliterators in the lore are created from the Obliterator virus and Chaos Terminators do exist and companies KNOW they exist because they constantly use them to tease Chaos fans.

Yes!!!
Stardustfire Oct 2, 2023 @ 8:44am
Cursed, lore in 40k is very relative, when i started playing TT (Second Edition) Oblitertors where not even a thing, and when they came in a later edition it was not a Virus that made them what they are in the first Lore incarnation.
if you go for lore you must deny most 40k PC games because they are lore inacurate, starting with unit numbers (you know, SM Squads are ever 5 or 10, now count what numbers the Devastors have as example in Gladius...)

I made more type of Devastator in my Blood Ravens heroes mods, if you liked them i can release a add-on that adds these units to be available to the normal recruitment : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3008032140
