And you say this on Steam because most Steam users are going to care about Epic's launcher?
Maestro Rugosa Mar 15, 2023 @ 5:43pm
Remember that if you get stuff on Epic, you can't play with players using Steam.
GreenBeanN1 Mar 15, 2023 @ 5:57pm
Why not? What's wrong with direct connect or connecting to the master server? (Just run the same version and the same mods).

I don't know the epic version but there is probably no need to run a launcher to start the game. Not sure about installing. I have the GOG version. There when you buy the game you get offline installers too (so no need to use any (platform) launcher at all).

I mostly use Steam but will take something for free and play on Epic if it looks interesting, can't see any reason why not.

It might be also a good opportunity for sceptical friends to pick up a copy of the game. I agree with GreenBeanN1 - Crossplay between Steam and Epic is supposed to be possible and I think I even read somewhere here in the forum that Gladius also supports crossplay.

Games that are purchased on Epic or GOG can be *played* on Steam.

But they cannot be played with or against players who bought their games on Steam.

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding this post - or it only applies to that specific game - it should be possible.

It does.

In Gladius' case, crossplay is possible because it does not rely on the infrastructure of Steam/GoG/Epic Games, but on their own.

epic coming with the heat, from the coupons that make games even cheaper than steam to free games... hard to resist in this day and age of increasing prices for everything

Half of my "this is midly interesting, might want to buy it when it's cheap in some years, games"
Are either free on epic at some point or in a good bundle on humble. Thank you whatever did this.

Got the game on Epic, was quite surprised.

"Oh wow, a fairly recent and expensive Games Workshop title given away for free. I wonder if there are DLCs for this thi...."

*sees number and price of DLCs*

"Oh, Games Workshop, you Games workshop you!"
Maestro Rugosa Mar 19, 2023 @ 5:53am
lol

(Many discounts for all DLCs currently available on Steam!)

This is literally not true. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot lol.

oh well. I would never have bought this game, but have tried it on Epic and am enjoying. no intention to invest in it on Steam, nor to buy any DLC via the other platform. I find it interesting that some players would consider rejecting a free game simply because it's not via Steam.
