Chaos Marine - Apotheosis (and Apocolocyntosis) Achievement
I've looked around and found several very helpful guides to achievements on the discussions and guides sections here on Steam, but I'm at a bit of an impasse.

I want to "wrap up" most of a faction's achievements before moving on to the next one, but the Chaos Marines have me stumped.

The Apotheosis achievement demands a Chaos Cultist be transformed into a Daemon Prince through the use of their "Champion of Chaos" feature that allows them to randomly acquire a boon or transform into either a prince or a chaos spawn.

The rub is, I played a 270 turn game in which I killed over 1,000 Tyranid units (i got that achievement and it was my first time playing against them) exclusively with Cultists. I broke down and quicksaved/reloaded a turn in which 4 of cultists downed 4 other units while in proximity to a max level Chaos Lord (level 10, +75% boon chance from Worthy Offering 3).

After a 5 hour game and 3 hours of 'save scumming' - I have had 0 transformations on any cultist units.

I've seen the charts floating around the discords (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/467032336303652875/602243221623406602/unknown.png) and I've troubleshooted everything I can troubleshoot, but even with a sub-1% chance, after hundreds and hundreds of units killed, I should have gotten AT LEAST one transformation.

Have I missed anything? Is there something I'm overlooking.
- Full Tech
- Max level units
- Many units maxed chaos boons (they regularly earned 'bloated' but never transformed)
- Not a hotseat or online game
- Hard difficulty
- Solo Game

Any help (or sympathies) would be appreciated.

Turn 448 of farming a corner with 3 cycling groups of Cultists, I got Apotheosis on a cultist while within 1 square of my Chaos Lord. It actually shocked me.

Unless someone confirms otherwise, the percent chance listed above is probably correct, but may take you much much much more than 500-600 kills with cultists to get it.

I am not sure if the chaos lord helps or not, I am pretty sure the chaos lord reduces the chance for chaos spawn mutations (as it is not always beneficial) but am not sure about demon prince transformations. From what I remember, researching chaos boons actually decreases the risk of transformation, so that may be your problem. Apart from that it is pure luck. Killing thousands of units with cultists does not improve the chance of them transforming for the next kill. Although killing more units increases the Expectation of seeing a demon prince transformation, it is by no means guaranteed at any threshold.

I remember seeing a (very) old thread that discussed transformation in more detail but it is probably over a year old.

Fairly sure archelonian is correct :
Researching boons and using Chaos Lord reduce your transformation chance.

I'm unsure, but decided to try it out. Started a new map, unlocked no chaos boons. Huge map, very high wildlife, very fast, churning out cultists every turn - i'm nearly 500 turns, probably 200-300 kills with [just] cultists with no new transformations.

Tried "save scumming" for two hours (save just before 3 groups of cultists get the killing blow on three separate units, attack with all three, reload if they don't transform) with no new transformations.

Apocolocyntosis is probably the most time I've ever invested in unlocking a single achievement.

Edit: Steam is listening. 8 minutes after posting this, I got both transformations. Thank Christ.
