Rhino after the patch
Before the patch the Rhino was good, maybe too good. It had enough health to tank damage and survive long enough to drop off troops, and when upgraded it did pretty good damage at a range of three. At 40 ore it was a great bargain and worth the research to get all the upgrades.

After the patch the health went down by half. Now its not a sure thing that it will survive enemy fire long enough to drop off troops. The damage output also went down by half, definitely not worth the research required to upgrade the weapons. To compensate for the reduced hitpoints and damage the cost went down 25% to 30 ore.

I think you need to add back some or all of the health since a fragile troop transport is worthless. For the weapon techs to be worthwhile they need to go back to doing similar damage to what they had before. Better to increase the cost to 50 or 60 ore if needed but make the thing useful.

The thing is....troop transports ARE fragile. In the real world as well as most games that represent them....

I look at ork battlewagon and new rhino makes me wanna cry. More health!

At least the rhino is acquired early and generates an overwatch immunity aura, but yes a health buff should be nice.

Rhino prevents overwatch so you pump them full of Khorn Berserkers and ram them into the enemy. Bring daemons/daemon engines behind it to intimidate and debuff everything. Then you keep using self heal and soak damage while the enemy melts away.

I think only problem they have that blast weapon upgrade. it's useless as such thus takes up space in tech tree for now.

Agree with the OP.

If they get all or at least half of their health back that'd ensure that a fresh Rhino could engage a mass of enemy and reliably deliver troops without risking being lost with a full load of troops on board.

That still leaves the woefully inadequate damage output with multiple additional techs. If you changed the techs to something else and just had the Rhino be a transport that'd be a poor choice but better than the current tech trap choice that does nothing.

*thinks about the TT Rhinos arnament*
*is puzzled about what exactly ppl cry here because TT Rhino is nearly weaponless exept bolter*

IMO the tech should be about health, armor, movement... not about the almost useless weapons.

+1 move would be neat,
+ same for + armor and/or health
+ maybe something to load-and-go in one turn with a 3-5 turns cooldown, so you can bring the rhino, load troops, and move again in the same turn.
+ maybe a radar of some kind too

using real world logic for this game is pointless. Dont hurt yourself making that comparison

You mean other than it being a COMBI bolter, e.g. firing a plasma or melta at the same time. And the big Havoc rocket launcher? Yeah sure, weaponless except a bolter? Why pick the worst weapon out of 3 weapons and say its weaponless? Lot of ♥♥♥♥♥ lol.

Combi Bolter means Two bolters, aka a storm bolter, Combi-Plasma would be a bolter + Plasma gun.
Stardustfire Jul 25, 2019 @ 9:26pm
and even when it was a combi plasma it can shot ONE TIMES with plasmagun stats during a complete TT battle, yeah an impressive vehicle weapon... , oh wait NOT, my tactial marines can carry a real plasma gun and fire it every turn...
seriously rhino is a toothless paperconstruct, im ever happy in tt when enemy fields one.

Rhino is still good as an early transport unit... but not really in combat anymore. The weapon upgrades are really questionable to research. (same goes for the battlewagon upgrades)
