Let me tell ya blokes a story about how da orks konduct warfare. I was us'n 'da space marines, teamed wit' 'da imperial guard an for nearly a hundred turns we battled relentlessly against 'dat nasty necron. It was an epic fight, trad'n blow afta blow, essentially ‘da game was down ta tree uv us. I had not made kontact wit' ‘da orcs yet, well let me tell ya when dey arrived, dey karried a big stick. Dey had five gorkanauts an' literally dozens uv vehicles an' troops, 'da kollapsed ma level 9 base like it was noth'n. I had become konsumed wit' help'n imperial guard ai teammates hold uv da hordes uv necron, dat i took for granted 'e an i kollectively would smash da orcs. Well surprise, dey had slowly, on dere own, taken kontrol uv ‘da entire north region uv ‘da map, an’ when dey arrived it was a slaughta. Greener, truly iz meaner!
This is a formidable game, hats off to Slitherine, I absolutely love Sanctus Reach and the Armageddon series, though this is the best of the bunch!
Early game pretty easy, slow pace, nothing special happened. Early to mid game found Necrons (bottom center of the map) which happened to be no match for my Space Marines which purged them all together with their city. Not far from former Necrons city I spotted Imperial Guards with their city further to the north-west. Done some preparations for the war against Imperial Guard, was aproaching them slowly with my fresh units joining main force turn after turn and... here comes a turning point of this game... Orcs showed up north of Imperial Guards city so i Decided to let them soften each other. But those green scums found my troops and started to play on to fronts. I've been killing Orc wave one after another with some losses until Imperial Guards decided to join aswell. Mid game was just killing Orcs and Guards till those Orcs cowards retreated north so I stepped into Imperial city and finished their existence on Gladius Prime. But there was no time for celebretion a quick reorganisation of troops and march north through forest to purge those orcs for the glory of the Emperor!
Greens happened to be well prepared with 3 quite large cities (if you can call a scrap yard a city) and lots of them.
Late game was a slow march through forest and narrow paths killing green scum. Some of the bravest brothers gave their lives but fresh new squadrons been coming to end this heresy.
When it comes to strategy I was trying nearly every unit. Vehicles happened to be damaged easy by enemy and difficult to repairs. My main force in the end when assaulting last and largest Orcs camp consisted mainly Devestator Marines with support of Apothecaries, Librarian and Chaplain.
looks like a best duo for Space Marines is Tactical and Devastator in the early game and Devastator - Terminator in the late game supported by Apothecaries and hero units.
So far the game was nice and challenging enough to try it again.
Finished in 195 turns with only two chapters of the story completed.
