Besides i think after a round with the marines and the guard, that the necrons are the "weakest" faction if you only look at armor and life.
Cause as marines, i can kill everything the Necron has with only Devastator marines.
But sorry, for your question, try all out and look what suits you.
you can play every faction in many different ways i think and you have to find the way you like.
With Necros I pretty much dont venture out initially, but concentrate on any research that allows my first base to grow. Once I have a stable economy, i add infantry and tank building and hero. But I dont build infantry, only the big bug to build cities. For tanks I use only the big barge
Now with two barges, two melee heros and a bug I start moving in one direction untill I can build second city. Once this city layed down, i replace my bug and push on. Pretty much after a few cities you get to the point where you can produce anything.
Once you have multiple monoliths out you've basically won. Each and every monolith is cheap for what it does and has enough health and firepower (use the gauss flayers) to murder tanks and other super heavy units.
Monoliths are ridiculous. They should be nerfed.
Weren't they nerfed though? I remember them being more expensive in later patches.
No clue. I bought the game like a year ago, but only started playing a lot with the latest DLC.
"* Increased cost of Monolith by 50%."
Is listed in numerous patchlogs. 1.1.4 has it.
1.2.0 also has that listed. It's a very expensive unit. It should be treated like a mini-baneblade.
Got it; thanks!
