Are there campaigns?
Just got the game. I only see option for Introduction or SP or MP. Do you have to beat the Introduction mission to unlock the campaigns?

There are no campaigns.
Only quests you can play during the game.

Each faction does have its own campaign but like the guy above said, it appears as quests once the game has started.

Basically Endless Legends style - thanks. Game seems like a cross between Endless Legends and Warlock.

Lol no they dont. Its nothing like a campaign. Saying its a campaign dosnt make it so. Its super poor campaign quality, very lazy. If you like PvP (even though the lobby is terribly designed and basic) then try it for that as it can be quite fun.

What is a campaighn? A series of quests. Therfore each faction you play is you taking part in a campaign. Whether it fits your description of a campaign or not is a different matter.

No proper story campaign? Thanks for letting me know. Removing from wish list.

It's a 4X game. 4X campaigns are most of the times terrible. Just as an example, they were removed from TW: Warhammer 2 DLC because nobody liked them. 4X are traditionally played as sandbox with small narrative elements since Civilization and Master of Orion.

Curious about this game since it is part of the current Slitherine bundle on Humble Bundle. So if I understand correctly, even though this game isn't a 'typical' 4x, it is a 4x in terms of you play until you've conquered the map?

Until you've destroyed the last city of the last enemy OR you finished the last quest of your faction's quests (if you activated that).

If you are even remotely a fan of Slitherine-style hex based wargames, you will *love* this one. I'm not even a 40k fan really and this is one of the best turn based wargames I've played since Panzer Corps.

I would not call this game a 4x. Would definitely recommend it, but its more like an RTS in turn-based form. Although there is no true campaign the quests do a good job of setting the atmosphere and more so than any other WH40K game gives the sense the game is actually taking place in the "grim and dark" future. There is a large amount of replay value due to build and faction diversity and no other game is so great at massive multi-faction free for alls.

Endless Legend isn't a very good comparison to this, because in Endless Legend the races play very differently.

For example, with the Broken Lords you have to BUY citizens and you don't collect food at all, so it's tough to start, once you get your economy running the Broken Lords break the game, I play against the PC on max difficult and have even tanked 2v5 with one ally to act as a meat shield until I have enough Dust for my city Populations to explode.

Gladius is good for what it is, a Sandbox to play in.

Hopefully, they use what they've learned from this to make Gladius 2 with a Campaign and I really hope they use more Warhammer Art.

Type in Warhammer Art and you don't have enough hours left in your life to view all of it.

And yet, the cut scenes for this game are almost the same across all of the races.

Gladius is fun for a stupid steamroll romp, the races and strategies largely play the same tho, and I found the quests to be very bland and almost not worth even doing.

By the time I'm able to finish the quests, I'm usually half way to winning the map, so it hasn't really added anything for me.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
