40K Galaxy Conquest Idea
So.... I have always wanted a game for 40K like Star Wars Empire at War. There are a lot of tremendous mods for that game but creating something around the 40K universe would take me until the end of time so I thought about using my existing 40K games and finding a way to tie them all together so you could fight across the 40K galaxy.

I put the information here as this forum seems to be the most active 40K forum on steam.

The almost end result are the images attached below.
When creating this "game" I went about it in a way where I wanted things to be fun to engage with but not result in something that would take forever to play.

Zoom into the images for a better view!

The first image below is of the 40K galaxy I created. The map is split into sections with each planet having its own system. Each faction is given a color shown in the key in the third set of images linked below. Each system has a points value depending on different values. These could be Forge worlds, significant worlds in the 40K universe or the differing value in faction worlds.

The second set of images below are detailed map information and movement charts.

The third set of images are of the map key, points information and the buying guide for points. Points calculated through planet totals.

The four set of images are the fleets / unit pages that need filled in with faction fleets. Points details for this shown in the last image, cycle / turn order.

The Last image is of the cycle / turn order.

I originally planned this for myself but I thought it would be a good idea to post it and see if I can get any ideas or if any others want to join in!

My plan is to have fleet battles in BFGA2. The initial fleets are built through the points system in BFGA2. Land battles would then take place in a mix of DOW, Gladius and Armageddon.

I also plan to use virtual die and a virtual card system as stated above in the images. I will also include "artefacts" that can be found that will give certain bonuses faction or system wide.

A cycle for this game would be one week. So over the course of one week one cycle / turn would take place. All the purchasing movement, conquest etc... from that turn / cycle.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas or are interested in joining in! Some ideas too about extra bonuses for worlds, like, Mordian giving a bonus for having the Mordian Iron Guard etc....

Thank you for any ideas and feedback and have a nice day!

I had a similar idea like yours, and I can see where you come from mate.
Obviously you must be a tabletop gamer as well like me and I also wish to have a strategic galactic map to implement with the tactical game of Gladius.
I even wished there could be a way to mix Armada with this one here but I think we won't see anything like this in a while.

I like the idea - but couldnt you shrink the scope a bit to have a planet-size campaign. Each faction gets a zone or area on the planet. In a nutshell - each strategic turn allows you to move an army from zone to zone and If two or more factions encounter each other than a batle in Gladius is played. I am thinking something like the Dawn of War 2 strategic map.

I like your idea though. Something more strategic or campaign-like would be awesome.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I do enjoy the tabletop game when I get a chance to do so!

Yes, I don't think we will see a 40K game like this for a long time! I came up with this as I just wanted something to fill that space. If you are interested I might start something soon!

Thank you, yes, I thought about something a bit smaller in scope but I also wanted to include the Battlefleet Gothic game as it makes things feel a bit more global. Could be an idea though for something to get started with?

Pleasure is all mine, and I really can understand your hopes and frustrations, and I think we're not the only ones as 40k tabletop lovers and gamers.
You pointed Galaxy Conquest which is a game of over a decade but such system can be applied for the 40k world too.
I also though what if we had small version of Stellaris which can be done creating a small galaxy but implementing all the factions (i know it's not totally realistic) and then switch planet battles in a way like Gladius or Sanctus does.
Or another way could be combine Armada with some other 40k game like Gladius etc.
One of my hopes was and still is to see AoW Planetfall with a full 40k mod,it retains some features of DoW but with the turned base battles but the problem is that the game is hard to mod,I tried myself but it is really difficult to create some decent skins and the tutorial that the devs released is very generic and difficult to understand unless you're a programmer yourself.
Still it is frustrating to see the fantasy side got such a good treat in the videogaming world.
So what I can hope at the moment is to see Gladius with more factions and to come out with a way to implement Armada or Stellaris battleground to it.
If there was a way to modify the ground battle result of these two games we could have a sort of total war 40k.

This certainly sounds fun, with my hands injured I can't really participate but I would suggest using BFG and DoW1 skirmish with the Ultimate Apocalypse mod.

Some of your ideas sound good! Just need a developer to have a go at it!

In the meantime I will see if there is much more interest in the next while and then I will go ahead with my plan and see how it goes!

If you ever get back to full strength you are very welcome!

Yes, that would be my go to option as well. A mixture of DoW1 and Gladius for ground battles and BFGA for the space environment.
