Mid/late ggame AM units are too good...
simple theya re too good and get upgrades to make them the best units in game...

ground forces:
-best tank best anti air
-best super heavy
-the only one to get arty

Air force:
-best fighter best bomber

economy:
-most efficient economy

range:
-most unit got a 3 hex range out ranging most units making overwatch and attacks super safe


worse thx to hunter kille rmissiles even the lowly sentinels stay relevant when every other army early units became totaly obsolet...

once AM reach mid game its almost impossible to lose as a human and no other army can realy counter you since your air force one shot any other plane and can still♥♥♥♥♥♥ground force...
worse your tank have no weakneses they are sturdy cheap and effectiv against everything...
they even have 2 upgrade for tanking the camo net and the armor upgrade making them even able to tank super heavy units spam

I don’t necessarily agree. Each faction has their strengths and weaknesses – one thing I like about this game. The Imperial Guard is all about the long game: turtle-up, survive, build-up your economy and unleash hell.

You gotta understand your enemy – and one more reason to invest in scouting units. Against the Guard you have to act quickly or plan for an attrition war where you keep disrupting their economy.

Well yes "if" you can reach the AM if the AM is surrounded on the other side of the map then you will never reach them soon enough...

But worse early on AM isnt even that weak... their very early units can't win 1vs1 but they have enough hp to tank for 2-3 hit just enough to replace it, same for heavy weapons squad not as powerfull as devastator but way cheaper and for its price very powerfull... except the base guards no AM are really weak...sentinels arrive fast and can tank a lot compared to other first vehicules...and basilisk break game literaly, but let say you are like me and don't like to cheese all game by spamming basilisjk around turn 40-50 and destroy everything by just suiciding a guards squad from time to time and blasting the whole map from 6 hex away...

So you use hydra and leman russ and see that it can 1vs1 anything and even heavier stuff struggle to kill them (Russ being able to tank 3 monolit full attack pattern...) compared to predator and otehr same tech unit.

For me Or AM hit too hard or it tank too much...if those units were costly to build or maintain why not bu its not the case...

On a huge map you can't guarantee that you start next to Astra Militarum in order to rush them. The game can't be balanced upon rushing them or lose.

At a minimum you need to take Hunter Killer missiles from Sentinels, they're walkers and Space Marine Dreadnaughts are also walkers and they don't get them.

Maybe a small increase in upkeep costs to put a small brake on their late game spam.

Its also not as if their early units are bad. Guardsmen aren't very good but they are cheap and with medpacks and grenades they can do some damage or serve as cannon fodder. Hydras are available early with Basilisks and Lemon Russ not far behind.

I agree it is hell to face AM late game, sentinel rockets, aircraft rockets and basilisks just destroy anything you can put against

I think a major increase in upkeep is the way to go, like KDubya said (he said small increase though, i don't think small is enough)

The rocket damage needs to be halved at least. I tried playing with them, winning was waaay easier than with nids

Games like this tend to have a faction that gets stronger as the game goes on.
It's fair enough, if their late game power doesn't come on too fast.

AM is an easy mode. Especially after hunter-killer missile unlock.

so we all agree, its up to the devs now to balance things out. Easy mode, totally, that is what playing Astra Militarum is !

Problem is that AM can already rolfstomp mid game. they are only weak until they begin to roll basilisk and leman russ which is turn 40-50 so you barely crossed the map and AM si out gunning and out ranging your entire army units...

If the late game faction is stomping as early as mid, I suppose that is a problem.
Granted, basilisks and leman russ should be good, but they shouldn't be all that is needed.
I'd like for air to be featured a bit more, for example.

Im gonna disagree on AM economy being the most streamlined, esp early game before edicts. Theyre as much of a pain to get going as orks. Nids and even necron\sm are definitely more simple economies. I do agree that hk missles either should be added to dreadnoughts or taken off sentinels.
