DLC Units (Immortals)
So this is the first of four reviews of each new unit added into Gladius just today. This review is meant to explain the units uses and how much it changes the factions existent meta as a whole and in the end i'll let you (necron players) know if the Immortals are a dud or the cool new skeleton on the block.

So first and foremost was the cost of the DLC to add the Immortals into the game which in total came out to $5.00 US and brings out the price of each unit if you include the Genestealer cult squad, to $1.00 US each making them a better value then the previous DLC the lord of skulls which cost $3.00 for one unit. This is good to see but are the units worth what we paid?

The Immortal is a Tier 2 Necron unit, which means you can actually start pumping them out by turn 20 or so. This is really nice as a lot of variety in each faction is locked far back into the research making them a quick new entry into your armies roster. Immortals also dont cost alot more then there warrior counterparts but it can be somewhat noticeable if you are having bad luck with your resources at that moment.

Combat wise the Immortal is essentially a straight upgrade from the necron warrior, with better armor and a better gun though the weapon lacks the rapid fire ability which causes it to be pointless to bring them up into close range. This lack of rapid fire can cause the Immortals, even with there better stats to be defeated by a warrior squad if managed improperly. SO the best way to use them in the end is to not replace your warriors with them but to integrate them into a multilayered line together with the warriors in the front allowing them to take advantage of there rapid fire and the immortals in the back allowing them to take advantage of there higher damage output at range. This is kind of fun to do but in practice you normally don't have much of a need for it. Besides some rare exceptions were I was battling a player or the hardest AI I never really needed a line of overwhelming firepower to push through as the necron warriors are usually more than enough in the early game and the cost difference between the two, though not extreme is enough to just make you kinda forget the Immortals are even there to use.

At the current moment I find the Immortals are a lot of fun to play as but are kind of niche and you can fit them into your army rather easily, however they dont add a whole lot to the army as a whole. Personally I think this DLC is a worthwhile purchase but if you are skeptical then try it out with a friend who has it as only one player needs the DLC for the rest to use it.

I will update this if my opinions on the Immortals change after more gameplay and if you have played with them as well, please add your thoughts but refrain from deconstructive criticism as making complaints for the sake of complaining won't help anyone in the long run.

Thanks for the review - deciding whether I want to get the DLC for the Immortals or not. I might just because I’m so used to fighting them in Mechanicus, haha

No offense, but please don’t bring up old threads. It clutters the forum, dead as it is. Just read the thread and move on, or just ask for help in a new thread. People will definitely respond.

Well, this is the most detailed guide/review on Immortals specifically that I have found, and I wanted to acknowledge the author's efforts. (Like a comment on a Steam Guide.) But noted for the future.
