Where are all loyal primarchs?
Question is related to this game by general lore only.

Why all loyal primarchs have gone missing/stopped fighting while traitor primarchs grow fat and live in luxury in their new demonic forms? Was all that talk about loyalty and serving "father" just talk and they turned their tail from fighting moment he waas crippled?

I know Roboute has returned and made indominatus crusade possible, but all other are either dead or missing.

How can we know missing ones' plans ? Maybe they've a master plan, maybe a quest. For exp. we don't know primaris marines' secret constructions until Guilliman's return.

These emptiness, speculations about lore are desired by company. When'll Lion'el Johnson come back ? When Dark Angels models' sales are low.
Also, iirc traitor legions' primarchs were alive but they'd no offical rules until 8th edition codices for table top. For now just Mortharion, Magnus and Guilliman are officially playable.

(someone can correct if i'm wrong.)

Lion-o is ready to go at any time.

Robert Guilmon is alive and well.

Ferrus is dead.

Vulkan vanished.

Leman vanished.

Dorn was presumed dead but maybe not.

Sanguinius is dead.

Khan left to go hunt for someone.

Corax vanished.

So there you have it.
Does it state why these vanished or just basically we were never told they died but also know they aren’t here now.
Vulkan was presumed dead by the imperium actually but Salamanders believe if they collect all of vulkan's artefacts, they can bring back him. Chapters've superstitions like that. Vulkan can be dead during War of Beast (a war vs orks), by some kind of sacrifice to save planet iirc.

Russ's another story, according to Space Wolves he went in Eye of Terror for a cure. A cure which can heal his father emperor. Russ's most loyal son to emperor (his dog), so i believe he may return someday, a day which can be like wh40k version of Ragnarok. 13th company (an enigmatic company of space wolves which lost in warp) returned already. They've returned but changed, wulfens, space werevolves ((: hidden from imperium for now.

Also, this game presumably takes place in the 41st millenium.
Roboute Guilliman returns in the early portion of the 42nd :)
Wolfsbane spoilers

During Wolfsbane russ uses the spear given to him by the emperor, he learns something that according to his reflection, shall drive him from his home. The vision he had at the last feast in the fang, could very well be him finaly letting go.

Right, primarchs (Guilliman for now) just jumped in to fray, their game presences'll take time imho.

Also, Space Wolves' Great Wolf (chapter master) Logan Grimnar was able to wound Magnus the Red with help during Siege of Fenris. So, maybe no one need primarches anymore ((:

It is also possible that the warp storm that hit gladius is the great rift.

Dude the lore of 40k is huge. The universe in book form is absolutely massive. Try reading the Horus Heresy series, about how the space marines turned traitor etc and what the emperor was doing while he wasn't in stasis from the wounds Horus gave him. Theres a lot of books in the series. And a lot of other side books about other chapters and primarchs it would take you years to read it all.

These aren't kids books either when space marines are turning chaos in big orgies and crushing peoples skulls under their feet.

tl;dr it's basically not just all missing for no reason, all the primarchs are relevant in the series.

In real world terms, Primarchs started off as legends lost in the distant past who didn't have much information and were mostly used to say 'their legion is like them' Only a few of the Chaos Primarchs were 'real' and they were demon princes so worked basically like other demons in game terms. Over time GW has developed a lot more lore on them, especially in the Horus Heresy novels, so they feel more like real characters. Some like Sanguinus and Ferrus Manus are completely in the lore, but I am pretty sure that over time all of the 'missing' and 'lost' and 'presumed dead' Primarchs will make their way 'back' into the universe now.
