Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War

Necrons severely OP even on medium difficulty
For 3 seperate games now, with my difficulty on normal-no loyalty advantage or disadvantage given to me, and medium ai difficulty with large map and 4 ai's the necron a.i. continually stomps every other a.i. faction and then me. Spitting out armies of 7+ t1 monoliths, 5 t2 monoliths, several ctan hero units, swarms of arks and flyer/glider units. Even with me spamming my space marine units as fast as i can, 5+ land raiders, dreadnoughts, t1 flyers, artillery, max level heroes, etc it wasn't even close. The captain can hold the line for a few turns, but the absolute swarm of units was never ending, and i even scanned to see how many more there were each time, and each time i dramatically failed. Yet, when I play necrons with the same settings, I can never doing even partly as well. I believe some balancing needs to be done with the necron a.i. settings, especially for a relatively easy difficulty like medium, which shouldn't be this impossible to overcome-swarm of units.

This game is difficult because of it's randomness... My best weapon is the SAVE button ;)
Sometimes I go back 15 turns just because I needed to go right and not left...

If you allow a unit to die, and then replace it with a new one, you'll be severely punished in the late game... at medium difficulty, that is... :nonplussed_creep:
I do enjoy the randomness of this game, but this isn't random. This exact scenario happened to me 3 times in a row, with necron a.i. while i changed factions each time. It just doesn't seem reasonable for the a.i. to be able to do this, while the rest of the a.i.s get crushed faster than me to the necrons. It just feels ridiculous, they don't even get a loyalty bonus and they quickly rofl-stomp(not a word i use lightly) everything
I played once as Necrons, and also encountered them a couple times... I just remember they are particularly susceptible to Grenades and the moving pyramids go down easy with long range and anti-air...

BUT I also remember losing games with any other faction if you don't keep up the pace.

My strategy is not to advance with disperse troops so, when i find another unit, I can overwhelm them in one or two turns... and a flyby to review battle stats before any action...

Hope it helps, because it takes a lot of hours to figure out the strategy for any particular issue :steamsalty:

I play necron from the beginning against armies of 4 AI allies (normal difficulty). I managed to roll on AI with only 3 squads of necrons, 2 lords nécrons, an Overlord and 3 monoliths.
They are really OP and I would say even cheaté.
And even ! The monoliths are just optional XD
I managed a fair game with 3 squads of necron and a necron lord > <
(It changes the space marine. For once they are not the ones who are cheated.)

Normal difficulty. Just erased the necron, or maybe one of the necron factions playing as space marines. If any other outside me seems OP it is the other space marine faction ( who just send a couple of those champions on my heads, not to mention the lords of skull challenge just started too ) so no i can't agree with you here though i may change my mind since i have the map at 50%
Necrons are easy handleable, even as orc, nasty are SM Endgame swarms of flyers that anilate all and cant get shot down, and Endgame AM that just drowns you in Baneblades and Basilisks. a lord of skulls is easyer to kill than a baneblade. Plus Both Factions have the Imba reuseable Long Range Vehicle Rockets.

I couldn't tell you if those factions were good or not in the late game because the necron a.i. always KILLS THEMS...... and then me
You probably need to change tactics
the advice @Explorer offers seems what i've been doing wrong. I've made a couple of errors, such as besieging that idiotic lord of murder with all my units at that time. Currently i'm just hoping i manage to finish the story line. I had a fairly large portion of the map under my control. Now i'm slowly falling back. On one side those idiotic space marines are coming at me with only heavy units. On the other side Astra is charging with huge amounts of infantry. Luckely astra can be hold at bay with fear but i'm guessing it won't be for long before i'm overrun. I should be able to hold my city though untill i have build what i need to build for chapter 5 requirements
I think the game just needs lategame tweaking. As you describe it, it sounds exactly like playing vs imperials with 6 players on the map. Flyers lvl 10 in front, some Baneblade in the mix, endless artillery in the back. I produce constantly out of 7 cities and there is no way to stop them. And that without loyality bonus for them.... come on.
That's what im saying alwayysluckyy. Just a little tweaking to the a.i. to make it more reasonable, especially at medium (no loyalty penalty or bonus). It seems like when playing as space marines, you don't have the hp or armor to tank, range for artillery, any special units of note, can't make multiple cities so you will have significantly less of everything, and even the best SM flyers get 1 shot by most units. I really love this game, i just want it improved
thunderhawks oneshot? there is noting that can do this miracle, thats why this unit is total broken, you can swarm them and enemy need at least 3 units+ to get down one. they are the main reason end gaem sm can handle endgame am. you can hunt and kill the basiliscs faster as they can shot you down (what by itself is a bad joke already, because explosion effect weapons cant target/dmg flyers at all in the TT.... ) they smaller sm flyers are already totaly overpowerd when it comes to arnament, because they kill aa units in 1vs1.
if SM woud get more than one town they are unbeatable, because than they dont have the need to hold back units for guard duty. SM is scout/find a city/Death from above the city/ get all unit fast home again with thunderhawks/repeat

And easy is easy too win for you?
Agree with OP.

I'm getting one-shotted by Necrons on Very Easy... WTF? My fully supped-up Librarian went up to a Necron, and BAM! Gone.

Okay, so... I'll assault you with my Predators and Hunters! BAM! Oh, you're 2-shotting me, as I do 3.4 DPS, you do 8.8....

Okay, how about multiple squads of regular upgraded Space Marines, and Assault Marines with Melta-Bombs.... nope.... 0.7 DPS vs. 8.7 DPS..... K.... Yeah, this is TOTALLY balanced (sarcasm). I wonder if they tested their Diet Civilization: Beyond Earth rip-off for $70.00 before they released it?

Sorry but learn to play, necrons are not OP
