My impression from the trailer and screenshots is that it isn't Epic 40K. While not everything needs to be Epic scale IMO, I wouldn't mind an Epic scale expansion or even seeing the base game morph into Epic scale in the late game stages (as it would feel very appropriate for a growing 4X empire to hit that stage eventually). Btw if you like Epic 40K you should get Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon like yesterday, also by Slitherine.

It would be cool if they can add some huge units that takes more than one tile.

Please! It is a shame that they are not present in Sanctus Reach.
They are in Armageddon, but only the Reaver AFAIK (and they sort of break the game mechanisms anyway).

In the stream I saw in the imperial tech tree that you can build a baneblade, but I didn't saw a titan. On the other hand I think saw a Ork Gorkanaut which is kinda like a mini-titan :P But it doesn't seem like there would be real big ass titans in the game so far.

Awww.. what a shame.

i think, when i see the streams, that a titan would be to overpowered. It took ages to kill a simplem predator. i can't imange how long it would take to kill a landraider let alone a titan

I wonder if you can build an Imperial Knight?
shadowsfm Dec 12, 2017 @ 10:14am
that's the most likely, to battle the Gorkanaut

Imperial Knight seems quite good size wise - still an Titan but not something borderline OP as Reavers lol.

given that these should be units, and not individual (it is a 4X, not a skirmish game), I don't see why titans would need to be OP.
They are sturdy, but they still go down to a lot of stuff.

From a strictly fluff perspective Knights are NOT Titans in any way (unless you're GW's Marketing Dept). They have differing origins, command structures, the technologies involved and methods of operating are all different. An easy misconception, given GW's IP-trademarking spree of recent years and that "Knight Titan" is a lot easier to protect than "Imperial Knight". But if you look through either of the Imperial Knights codexes you'll find zero mentions of "Knight Titan" anywhere. Zilch.

I 100% agree that Knights and super-heavies of their class would make a great upper limit for the game :]

Oh sorry. True i actually never read that Knights are referred as Titans. I prefer Knights of Reavers etc. anyway bc Knights are different in their way that each is unique to their planet, house etc.
But yeah, that as upper limit would be good enough ! And thanks for the enlightment, praise the Emperor !

Yeah, and all sides have their "Knights", so it's would be a shame not to have them in. I still have the wonky Epic 40K Eldar knights. :P

No need to apologise, my good chap! A Warhound might be the very ceiling for this scale but anything above (Battle Titans (Reavers & Warlords) and equivalents (Gargants, Phantoms, Lords of Skulls/Kytans, Mantas etc) would be a bit much.

The "Knight Titan" confusion generally arises from GW selling plastic Imperial Knights as "Knight Titans" so that they can better copyright the name. Basically Knights were originally large multi-purpose mechs that pre-Imperium humans took with them when colonising the galaxy. Those scattered human planets which survived the Old Night and the Age of Strife ended up developing the patterns of Knights we see today and the ability to create more is a rare and guarded secret.
Titans, on the other hand, are "living" embodiments created by the now-Imperial Mechanicum (and the subsequent Adeptus Mechanicus) in the image of their Machine-God, the Omnissiah. Titans are far heavier than Knights, more powerful individually and although the two types of war machine share some similarities they have far, far more differences. :]

Great summary, Mauler, thanks for posting that. However, am I remembering correctly that Armageddon is one of the Imperium's larger manufacturing worlds? In a 4X game wouldn't it make sense to eventually arrive at WTF scales of manufacturing and conflict?

On the other hand, I see on your profile that you have some time logged in the game and so you're presumably in the beta. I'm sure you're under an NDA of some kind, so generally speaking I'm willing to defer to your opinion about this for now, as you seem to know your stuff!
