On my windows 11 computer any attempt to slow game speed then start a game results in the program shutting down.

Hey I recently purchased Cossacks: European Wars and as soon as I launch the game i get a frozen screen and can't move my mouse however I can hear the background music just fine any ideas on how to fix this?
