You go to a nearby village (that's not Horda By) and speak with the elder. You can buy cattle from him. Or you could raid a village for it.

Or you could go to the farmstead where you've been keeping your own personal cattle herd that breeds and withdraw 4 cows.

Put spare cattle in the local farmstead. It pays off eventually.

^^^ Do you happen to know how many cows are needed for that? When I tested it, I only had about twenty cows or so (maybe less?) and the herd never increased.

Since I hear about this ranching business quite often, I can only presume that a larger starting herd is required?

i raided a vilage and got 25 cows but they just stay near there,not even following me.

You click on the cow head, an option will pop up, then select "Drive Cows Onward" and they will follow you, or you can slaughter them and get fresh beef (unless you plan to seel it, never slay them all lol)
