Linen Factory ??????
Has anybody out there ever found a city where the building of a linen factory actually produces a profit? I mean, is the potential for this particular industry different in every new game you start, have I just been really unlucky on this matter so far, or is there some trick I am missing to make this industry work in game? Most of the cities I ask about setting up this industry actually list it as having a negative income. Seriously, who would choose that?

No, I haven't. I have no use for linens, hides, whatever those rolls of cloth are, etc.

Watch the markets and pay attention, you'll figure out what's worthwhile and what is a total waste of your time.

There certainly are some goods that have little or no value to traders. Personally, I kind of like that mechanic. Trading requires a minimal amount of thinking. Knowing that just makes my heavily overburdened bag of coins, feel that much more worthwhile.

(Also, there's nothing in the game that will ever ask you to get that crap either)

So I finally got on the good side of the guy in charge of that Scottish city of Eddinbrough (spell?) enough that the mayor allowed me to build a business there and, low and behold, linen was a profitable enterprise of a whole 117 pennies/week. That is the only spot on my entire map that had linen shown as a profitable enterprise! I was almost tempted to build it over ironworks which paid around 700/week just to say I had a paying linen factory!

I usally go with a brewery. They are stable in the most cities and it isnt too expensive.
But never done linen. Just selling it after a raid seems hard. If im evil i sell it to bandit caves or at my refuge for full price
