Mac OS X and Linux versions
Setting up a sticky here for people to report their experiences and list known issues and current workarounds (these are still a work in progress so patching will continue for a little while).

Known Issues:
-If you can't start config tool on Linux, try installing qt4.
-You have to wait ~15 seconds for shaders to compile in the first launch.

About Viking Conquest:
We are aware of the VC Mac issues and actively working to fix them. All crashes and graphical glitches will be resolved as soon as possible. Sorry about the inconvenience.

i don't have this tool in my xcode~
Thought as much, I just added instructions on how to find and copy the framework(s) instead. :skyesmile:

You can also try just install_name_tool (without the full path) if you have the Xcode command line utilites installed.


be honestly i was making qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.8.6
i can modify configure file manuly, so the launcher doesn't bothering me,

do you have any idea about mount&blade crash when loading texture on some moudule?
the crash report indicates std::bad_alloc error
and client crash on this
nv_dds::CDDSImage::load(std::__1::basic_string<char,std::__1::char_traits<char>,std::__1::allocator<char>>,bool)

i encounter this error before ,but not CDDSImage, i suppose it was some format compatity issue of platform. i can make lots of moudule run on mac version by changed the texture detial from 100 to 33 , so it's maybe the resource (image size) or memory problem

but after this patch, i can't launch 1257ad (huge Module) anymore
do you have any idea can improve this situation? thanks very much!

Looks like the executable wasn't linked properly.
As a temporary fix, you can try the following, if you have Xcode (Apple developer tools) installed. No guarantee that it will work though, it's also possible that you have an incompatible Qt framework lying around that interferes.
  • Open Terminal.app - you can find it in /Applications/Utilities
  • Type the following, each followed by ↩
  • cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/MountBlade\ {링크가 삭제되었습니다}
  • {링크가 삭제되었습니다} -change /usr/local/lib/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui @executable_path/../Frameworks/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui MBWLauncher
  • Test that it works by typing
  • ./MBWLauncher
  • If you don't have Xcode, you can also try copying QtGui.framework from the launcher bundle to /usr/local/lib
  • Open Finder, type Cmd-Shift-G, type ~/Library/Application Support/Steam
  • Navigate through the folders until you find MBWLauncher
  • Right click on the icon, select Show Package Contents...
  • Navigate to Contents/Frameworks
  • Select QtGui.framework and press Cmd-C
  • Press Cmd-Shift-G, type /usr/local/lib
  • Press Cmd-V - it should ask for your password
  • You might need to repeat the procedure for other frameworks if it still doesn't launch

Thank you very much, though launcher can't save and quit correctly, but it do create language.txt and last_module_warband, so i can modify these files myself :D

Yay! Thank-you! One of my favorite games made the transition! I haven't played Mount&Blade for nearly four years! I've wanted to, but I have no Windows box. I didn't even know a Linux version was released until I selected Mount&Blade in my Steam library just to see if there was any interesting news -- and there was!

It works on my system, which is an unusual customized Slackware setup, with some crusty old drivers which I keep forgetting to upgrade because they work. :)

-Running on Mac
-When I attempt to either configure or launch native or modules the launcher chrashes, this is only post patch
-Before the patch I was able to launch my mods and native, how ever my mods wouldnt make it passed loading textures and lack of video memory

Looking forward to a quick fix

from my experience low down the texture detail (about 33) in configure file could make you through this crash

but i have dds crash post patch ,so sad

MBW linux version was working fine, yesterday it was updated and now won't launch at all.

I'm having the same problem in Ubuntu 14.04, except that it was working fine last night, had the black squares for smoke et al this evening, and then won't launch at all as soon as I quit and then came back about an hour later. I guess there was an update in the middle, since now when I try to run it through Steam it just announces that it's running the program and then does nothing. Steam just says that I'm in the game, but the game never launches.

When run from the command line, there were various packages that needed installing, but I'm stuck at the libfmodex.so one. I cannot for the life of me figure out what to do with it, since the file looks like it's where it's supposed to be, but the error claims that the shared file can't be opened. I ran 'ldd' on the executable, and it also said there was an error finding libsteam-api.so, another file I have no idea what to do with.

I hope some of that helps, since I can't find anything online to explain what to do next, and I'm at the end of my own linux knowledge.

The issue with smoke seems to be fixed but there's still problem with the water. Basically the sunlight on the water is moving very unnaturally fast from one place to another. http://imgur.com/a/atYz8 Imagine the small white points on the water moving very fast from one place to another. To the Developers:

I am using the beta version, with the non-free ati fix, and noticed a couple small issues.
The game does not stop running when you exit. It closes to desktop and seems like everything is fine but steam won't let you start another game because it is still running in background session. Also notice a red flickering reflection of my character in the sky when there is lightining. I am not complaining, just wanted to let you know. Thank you for the great support!
