Best weapon in warband?
List a weapon in this formation and explain why:

(Weapon category)
(Specific Weapon and why)

Example:
Mace
Long hafted mace because it has a long range, its versatile, it can knock people down leaving them at a disadvantage, and it swings relatively quick. You can also use it with a shield, although its not the best for a shield, as it can only stab.

My first example is my belief. Here is another example.

Sword
Great sword because its long, has lots of power, swings very fast, and its intimidating.

Bastard longsword.
Good range, good damage and the flexability of one and two handed use.

also heavy morningstar because its both one handed and two handed, has long range and does a lot of damage its my favorite weapon

Sword
Balanced elite scimitar, has a good combination of damage, reach, and speed, and you can carry a shield.

I think a lot of people do not realize that one/two-handed weapons do less damage when you use them one-hended. If you use it one-handed most of the time, you are better off using a pure one-hander.

I know, I melee mostly in two scenarios, smart fights liek ambushes in towns and sieges, both times I go two handed.

Two-handed during a siege? That seems like inviting yourself to get shot. How do you avoid all the enemy arrows? My shield ends up looking like the back of a porcupine during most sieges.

I mean on defence. On assault the shield comes out till I reach the wall.

When mounted, you can't go wrong with a good ol' Lance. Instakill their general.
When going ranged, pick yourself up a longbow. Fast refire, powerful.
When things get heavy, Morningstar and Huscarl shield. Morningstars ignore most armor.
When you want to go berserker, use a two handed axe. Huge damage and scare factor.

I honestly use the smallest reach one handed sword/axe possible. I can always use a sheild to block or the weapon to parry until I am close enough to do my damage and because of my superior athletics, they can't get away far enough to do serious damage.

Yeah, but what kind of short sword/axe? a nordic short war sword? a sarranid guard sword? One of those high tier one handed axes? lol

I prefer the Sarranid Cavalry Sword above all us. That one handed weapon is quite long for being one handed, fast, and an amazing handle.

Otherwise? My favorite weapon is a courser, I run people over, and they never catch me.

Crossbow
Hunting crossbow because its accurate, has a lot more power then a bow, i can take the time i need to aim it, and i can use it while riding a horse.

Lol, the intercontinental ballistic missile? Remember, those were made a lot later after the medieval ages. That doesnt count :P.

I was skeptical about the morningstar but decided to give it a try recently. I am impressed with it. The puncture damage seems to make a big difference and even overcomes the penalty for using it one handed to compete very well with even powerful maces and sword slashes. Getting past many blocks and armor also helps.
