Marriage Question
Is it possible to get married as an independent with no land of your own? I have got a couple Ladies that like me at the moment but one wants more Renown I think and the other is a moral lady that wants me to have more Honour. Do you have to be a vassal or a ruler to get married? My renown is almost 300 and my honour is 0.

Must have a castle or town. They won't marry you unless you have a place for them to live.

WTF NO DUDE YOUR WRONG!
they won't marry to you if they won't have a place for them to live that's right... but they can agree even without having a castle/town. if the one you need to get permitio(brother, father) will accept she can live. or in the king's town. or if the one you need to get permition from have a castle she will be there.

fief??
villiage/castle
you gotta have castle or town if you don't get permition from the brother/father
now you do need to get INTO THE FACTION FOR PERMITION that's part of the permition!....
i married 6 times,with no castle/town

Except that they specifically refuse to marry and EXPLICITLY SAY they won't marry you until you have a place for them to live, which only works with a castle/town. Mods might change it, but that's how it is in the vanilla game.

You can only properly court girls if you're with their faction (unless you've previously been allowed to court them and then quit that faction, in which case you retain your visiting rights), but you can potentially elope with them even with no faction, but you MUST have a castle or town regardless. A Village fief won't work. The only time they'll go live with someone else is if you lose your castle/town, at which point they'll go stay at a family member's castle/town or the castle/town of their lord if their family has no castle/towns.
