Fastest way to train recruits?
So...is there a faster way to train recruits then what I'm doing now?

Currently I'm engaging desert bandits with my trusty steed and accurate bow and ordering all my units to rout. Since there is a shared experience. If I don't rout them, they'll be killed or knocked out cold...

Now I've read that the desert bandits are the worst to fight, but the problem is that the Sarranid caliphate is at war with some of the northern + I know where to find the bandits since I've got the bandit lair on my map.

I've also collected some point into training but it goes quite slow to get recruits all up to mameluks. Because nothing stops a speeding mameluk from crushing you

Try Sea Raiders. They also give better drops and easier to kill imo. You can find them between Wercheg and Rivacheg since they have a lair there close to Rivacheg

Trainer skill is pretty alright for native, not always for other mods.

Get into battles where you can let your troops fight....no wonder you think its slow if your only using shared exp.
Let them fight, they will earn alot more exp.
Sea Raiders is the way to go...good exp and can earn decent cash from their gear.

As others have said: pick fights your soldiers can participate in, they'll get a LOT more exp. Trainer skill is great for getting them to about mid-tier.

Also, iirc marmelukes are top tier units for the Sarranid faction...i dont care who you are or what units your training, recruit -> top tier is going to be slow.

well, at this point I have a quest to train recruits up to sarranid horseman, since that's the only faction in which I'm currently active. Haven't really ventured far out except on raiding parties. I'll travel up the areas with which my faction isn't at war with so that I can find looters and such in which they won't get killed like a fly.

You have 2 options...

1)Take your army of losers and go and pillage villages. They will toughen up pretty quickly...
2) When you are fighting bandits etc..*Never* make your army rout...Make them F1 F1 (Hold this position) and go out and destroy the bulk of your enemy...When you are satisfied, use F1 F3 and let your peasants clean up the rest....

Second option is something I've used against the Khanate with efficiency (combined with other Emirs), yet when fighting bandits there are always the few odd ones that decide that I'm not worth their time and hence attack the recruits.

I'll gonna give that a shot since keeping a few man at hand is sometimes a bit usefull when the desert raiders are 40+

From memory, desert raiders are on horse?...If so, stay well clear of any faction with horses until you have a decent set of cavalry yourself.

Ah, one more thing...Get as many Companions as you can...Get horses for them all and use them as a unit by themself. (You will have to change the class from Infantry, and make a new name for them)

Don't be too cautious. Its okay to lose a few troops as long as others are raking in the kills.

Spot on...You will need to sacrifice some troops. It is a juggling act.

Also increasing your relation with a village to ridiculous levels will enable you to recruit upgraded units. One game I had several villages with maxed out reputation. You know whats its like being able to get a brand new highly trained army every week? Expensive.

I'm currently the owner of a fief given to me by Sultan Hakim, thus far I've ordered the construction of a watchtower and I've taken all the quests the village elder has for me. Unfortunately, the village I had was in the hands of the Khanate so pillaged it, which brought the relations down to -70. So It'll take time before that goes well. Though I suspect upgrading the village does help with reputation.

How many companions can I get? Since I had 3 at one point and couldn't recruit a new one (my party max is 79).

Yes they are horseback, archers, skirmishers/lancers and shield/mace fellows. I might say, I've made quite the lucrative horse trading from them. To bad my trade penalty is to high to actually make a few bucks of it. I know that I can charge them easily with a few slave traders/mameluk/mercenary cavalry but they kinda eat my fresh recruits and are on par with the sarranid horseman (of which I need 7 to be alive for one of the emirs).

Guess I'll be recruiting a lot then. Though I'll try the hold position and charge option for the coming battles. See if they're not dying to much by themselves. If they do. I'll go out and venture into areas where looters/bandits are active so that the playing field is suitable for my recruits/footman.

Highest upkeep I've had has been 900-1000 dinars, had about 6-7 mameluks and quite the few other lads around. Then I got beaten and lost them...Stupid Count even took my horse! Never take my horse! So I saddled on a crappy horse, beat his arse, took him captive and back on my own horse. That'll teach him.

I think you have to do quests and kill bandits attacking the town to get rep. I dont think buildings will help unless its the school. think that one will riase rep.

All of them. Some do not like others and will fight and leave the group. Is a wiki that shows relationships. You will have to dismiss troops to have under you max party amount. 1 companion takes 1 party size.
