Getting rid of a productive enterprise
I got a brewery in one of the towns, and for the first month or so, I made about 10 denars each week. Now I'm lucky to get more than 2, and I want to sell it and at least make some of the money back.

I don't think you can get your money back, but you can just go to the Brewery and tell the guy you're closing the business down. Then I assume you can start up a different enterprise that's more profitable. (I mean, making 10 bucks a week? That's pitiful...Dyeworks usually make around $500 a week. The worst one I have is an Ironworks in Jelkala that only makes $200 a week. You need to build a better business.)

As fishhooks said getting rid of the business is easy, but you wont get your money back. You may be able to make your business more profitable though by stocking it's inventory with cheap grain, instead of paying local prices. Grain can be found chaep in Dhirim, and even cheaper in the villages that surround it.

Thanks for the replies, I actually got like 1000 bucks back for shutting down the place though.

Build dyeworks everywhere (the one that costs 10.000) unless they are not profitable, then build a brewery or iron smith thingy. The others you never need. You can ask the guild what earns how much in that week and it does not differ that extremely from day to day.

Always remember that you can stock your businesses with raw supplies, which you may want to do if you're in a region where they're cheap or where you plan to reave the local villages.

Do cities closer to the middle of the map get more trade? If they do would it be better to build something there?

You can only build one business per city, so you'll eventually end up with having one everywhere, anyway.
All you can do is ask the guild master for every single business you can build in town, take note of how much profit he tells you the business will probably make, and then take the one that will make the most, if you can afford it.

... but yes, the more caravans that actually make it to the city, the better. Just don't count on them bringing the supplies you want (talk to the guild master to see what's been arriving, reconnoiter the shops at neig... oh for Altana's sake, just build a Dyeworks).

I forget the Rhodok town, it's their 'best' and for that ONE town in all of Calradia, it was 'best' to build a Winery.
