Should I move up to Floris?
So, I've owned M&B Warband for a few years now. I took a Steam hiatus for a...well, it must have been a couple of years by this point. I've recently got a new computer and am really looking forward to getting into PC gaming again, rather than 'whatever would run on my word processor'.

I loved Warband, and I think it's fair to say I still do (running 200v200 at playable framerates is a joy now), but I feel like I was probably starting to hit the 'wall' in terms of fun I could have in my campaign. I don't have the save any more obviously but I was at the point where I was allied with a faction (Rhodoks, I believe? I was tempted to say Nords but we did keep horsemen, even our native lords and not just defectors), waiting for wartime, tagging along with the marshal, doing my bit and stomping lords as they tried to get away. I had a few fiefs and a castle awarded, and I believe the last thing I did was get hitched.

But now, I'm going to start a new game. And I'm wondering if I really want to start going through the same game again when I already know most of the game's workings so well, and just watch wars go back and forth as the faction I dump myself in slowly marches on.

I've been tempted, now, to try modding - still the same setting so not a Total Conversion like Rome or the Game of Thrones one - to give myself a new experience, and Floris kind of looks up my street. New, but stilll 'native-like' gear, has Diplomacy and Freelancer baked in, new animations, new features, deathcam, et al.

Should I go for it, or would it be 'better' to go through Native again for a while?

PS / NB: my 90 hours were spread across 3 or so files.

simply,yes
you'll see why when you have
floris,then..what ever you like, its a whole new game..with that comfy feeling
some things you will like, some things you wont, but you will enjoy it much more
No, no, & no. Don't play Floris. Stick to that native game you've been playing for ages already. Don't try anything new, never.
I even heard... though it hasn't been confirmed yet... foolish players disappeared while playing unusual mods in unknown worlds.
Scary...
Don't...
Never... ;-)

No do not play Floris. If you are tired of Native try a full conversion mod instead. Floris is a partial conversion mod that has some balance issues. If you want to play Native again just use Diplomacy. You can also use the standalon Freelancer mod that includes Diplomacy and Pre Battle Orders and Deployment. If you want a partial conversion mod there are better ones such as Silverstag. But it really sounds like you are ready to move on to some full conversion mods. The full conversion mods I recommend are Gekokujo and Brytenwalda but there are also many others worth playing. Just jump in to whichever one takes your fancy.

Use Perisno, it has all the good mods put into one game, if not that then yes floris. But I really recomen perosno.

I'm not a floris fan myself. I like some of the extra depth it brings to the game, but I don't like the balance of the gameplay. I still prefer native, or a good TC like Brytenwalda.

I don't see a downside to giving it a go. I think it's got a lot of positives.
There so many to play. Try'em all. Its free.

Why just play one? I have 14 mods installed and hop between them as I please, game never gets old.

Floris, Gekokujo(my favorite), PoP, Brytenwalda, ACOK, Warsword, Silverstag, Anno Domini, etcetera.

How do you install them? ive tried Brytenwalda but its still just the native option when i start the game. Ive read alot around but simply cant make it work :( Please give me some tips and treat me like a noob. Imagine that its the first time i ever touch a computer and start from there...Death and glory to the man or woman with the best solution. Hail

No, Floris isn't that special IMO.

Play Native Expansion and Download the Native Expansion Siege Scene Pack.

Unzip the file you download and copy them to your modules folder, google "warband carevaneserai" for detailed help, dont use steam workshop

Cheers for your responses. What I took was that, even if Floris might not have been the best option (and, sure, I'll have NE, PoP and definitely Brytenwalda on the backburner) I was right in moving on -from- Native. Been playing Floris for a couple of days now and it's got enough new surprises to keep me going for a good long while now!

As an aside, do mods mess up achievements much? Bizarrely I got the 2 for having melee and ranged weapon skills at 250 out of the blue despite not even being at 100 in either yet.
