I heard its possible that sometimes they will be on small islands off coast but raaare.
what ive always done is dont kill bandits. The more you see, the closer you are. bandit goals are usually simple,
A. Patrol hideout
B. Return to hideout
C. guard (stand outside) hideout
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
but if you're talking about the main story line quest to kill the theives at the hideout, you're probably mistaking it for a villiage because its not hidden or looks like a bandit lair. Its not far from Ribe name "Svens Hideout" and is not hidden like normal bandit lairs so you should be able to just scroll around the map.
I don't own VC and am not familiar with it. However, just as a tip, if this is a generic "Destroy the bandit hideout" quest, here's some pointers that are accurate for Warband and, I assume, are likely accurate for VC :
1) Bandit Lairs are invisible until they are Spotted. A good Spotting skill will help to uncover them. This is the most important skill you can have when doing this sort of quest.
2) Using CTRL-Left-Click to Teleport around the map will not reveal the Hideout, even if you Teleport right beside it, until you move what I consider to be "one game tick's worth of movement" - Generally a couple of "steps" with your Campaign Map icon or a momentary press of the spacebar to force time to progress. This is also true of normal movement as you will sometimes have to linger in an area before the Hideout becomes visible. Nothing ever happens/get's updated when time is not passing in this game and that includes the ability to see what's in front of you. (Because these quests are random and Hideouts are sometimes ridiculously difficult to find, I don't regard using the Teleport cheat during the last few days of the mission as a "cheat.")
3) Revealing the map by using the Remove Fog of War cheat will not reveal bandit Hideouts.
4) Nearby Bandits will generally try to return to their hideout at night. However, they will choose to flee from Lords and Manhunter parties (Stronger ones) if those are nearby, rather than trying to make it to their camp. At night, follow the direction you see Bandit groups moving in when they are not threatened by other forces to get an idea where the camp may be. If you're lucky, you can follow a Bandit group all the way back to their Hideout.
5) Pay attention to the quest script that is given to you in the dialogue. Like most quests, it's not always fully represented in the Notes description. Unlike some troublesome quests, Hideouts will always be located near where the Lord say's it is, but "near" seems to be a relative term to these unibrow, pinheaded, evolutionary throwbacks... For instance, if the Lord asks you to find the Bandit camp near their town and it happens to be Mountain Bandits and there's a mountain range nearby, the darn camp could be anywhere on that mountain range, even closer to another Town than the Lord's. It could also be on another mountain range that's even further away from that Town, just so long as some portion of it can be considered "nearby" that Lord's town. The same goes for Forest Bandits. Sea Raiders are a bit easier, since they're usually near the shore.
6) You will never run out of Bandit hideouts. They respawn every so often. So, don't worry about removing them. However, if you find one and don't have a quest for it, leave it alone, if prudent, and try to find the Lord of that region to see if he will give you a quest to get rid of it. It's a good money making/reputation building strategy. Bandit hideouts/camps are permanent until the Player removes them, so don't worry about anyone poaching your kills. :)
CTRL-Alt-F4
:)
I only use cheats when they are necessary due to a problem with the game. For instance, units can often get stuck in the walls in certain siege maps, making them impossible to kill. That's why we have CTRL-ALT-F4, which will knock out all enemies. Some quests are ridiculously difficult, spawning units you have to hunt down that are on the other side of the map, with no way for you to know beforehand what it is you're in for. I will use a Reveal Fog of War on those quests, since they're borked to begin with and failing them sometimes can punishe the player a bit too much.
Other than that and the occasional Teleport, for convenience only, I rarely use cheats and, when I do, it's to balance out a problem with the game, not to take advantage of the cheat to circumvent game mechanics.
This must be annouced somehow but I didn't noticed. Thumb up to VC devs, feels very good.
Now hideout-hunting can become a easy way to get XP and coins at the beginning.
Just stay away from the Viking longboat (former searaider's hideout) quest if your team is weak.
Anyway thanks for the replies.
And yes I also teleport a lot, saves much time (real time).
For Alba, they are up around the castle Art Muirichol.
(go inland in both cases)
I can't promise that it works like this in every game but that's where I would go.
there are about 6 spawn spots per bandit camp,so they are never in the same place, but WK's nose seems to be a little better as for the last 2 posts
the hardest one to find is the one near tunsberg i find because it can be up in the rabbit warren of hills where nothing really goes
