If they are in your party as a prisoner, you can open the troop menu and talk to them to release them. If they are in a garrison, take a walk around the streets and go into the prison, and speak to them there to release them.

Are they in a fief that is owned by one of your lords? If so, I'm not sure there's anything you can do but wait it out.

worst case scenario, send all you companions out and garrison all your soldiers then go lose a battle. all your prisoners will be freed

Thank you, the first part when I talk to them I just say "You better not try to escape" so that did not work however; going to the prison in a castle or town sure does. Thanks for the info.

Hi, is this in native? I tried doing that (talking to them in prision) but there are no conversation options, I just salute them and then say I must leave. Could it be because I'm in war with their faction?

The only way I could do it back when I thought it was a good idea, was to sacrifice myself to some bandits. That turned out to be completely worthless though.

Got rid of my prisoners. So that part worked out fine.

There has to be better options.
