While browsing moddb for any "new" mods I found...

for warband. Looks really epic. I took a quick look in-game and map is HUGE. Granted he did scale down some areas. Kind of to be expected but its still biggest game map for any warband mod. But, there is europe, africa, eastern US, central america, south america and asia.

You can be a native american, aztec, mayans or an african tribe or any other number of factions in the map. I tried out aztecs, but I'll probably make an ottoman character as I think they are awesome historically.

Seems to have a lot of features too. Only downside I saw was the items in merchants are typical vanilla ones. But, all the units get custom stuff it looks like (at least for the native americans). So there is custom armors, but can't buy them I guess.

If anyone decides to try it, get the 1.6 version found in the comments. It links to mega.co as the download host for it, but its a test version (I found it worked better).

Yeah I'm loving it so far too. And as a note, it does have a lot of custom items in the various markets...so my very first initial impressions on that were wrong. Plus you can get more custom stuff by enlisting in an army and raising in ranks.

I decided to stay as the Aztecs. I like the idea of kicking the Spanish out, conquering the entire western world...and then raiding across the ocean the land of africa and europe. Sorta like europa universalis 3 with the random aztecs :P Plus, if we have the entire land mass...it would be REALLY hard for anyone to travel over to take anything. It would be a huge journey, and you lose morale for being too long out at sea (think AI is effected too, dunno though). Still a long journey, with no safe areas to land.

At least the 1.6 version I have, isn't entirely finished. Incas are named wrong (probably easy enough to fix, its just a faction name change) and some things are still in testing mode. But, guess its an in development mod (though with that said, it has a TON of stuff and is pretty advanced).

My first fort battle was pretty epic. I decided to get all the other lords and attack that spanish fort on aztec's shores. Spanish can't really defend it (all their lords are mostly in europe)...so actually "easy pickings"

Huge thick line of Spanish musketeers on the wall, and my waves of Aztecs swarming toward them. Playing at 500 battle size. Aztecs dying all around, I stay back so I can just watch whats going on (me being morale support :P)...aztecs reach the ladders...being decimated on the way up.

But, finally the first Aztecs reach the top of the walls. Spanish front line gets decimated. Not good close fighters I guess or Aztecs are just better. I then follow up, but even though we heavily outnumber the Spanish and breached the wall...its still a blood bath of hundreds of Aztecs dying.

45-50 minutes into the battle, many dead, many wounded...we finally take their fort. But that was epic, like a movie battle. So many died from their guns.

So, now whats left is Mayans (but they are easy pickings), Incas and the natives of north america. Plus some islands with spanish on them.
What faction did you guys end up choosing for those who have played (or will play I guess) the mod?

I always liked playing the natives, especially Aztecs in games that have them (like civilization games or empire total war)...I also just like their history a lot. Otherwise I'd choose Ottomans, one of the african factions or maybe japan for samurais or that Chinese empire, Ming Empire I think its called.

Playing as natives will be hard as hell if its anything like empire total war :P Going up against huge factions, with way better technology lol.

I'm lame and just went with the British, for now anyway, I'm only enlisted as a mercenary :P
They have a large troop tree so that got me. I'm liking how there are a lot of lords all so close to each other, and they have some cities very close to one another too. They are currently getting their backsides whipped by the French though. So badly it's embarassing. I might consider a change once I see what the options are.

Mod looks amazing. I am really considering on getting it. However, I must ask. Does this mod crash, does it have texture and gameplay issues?

I only played like 2-3 hours of it but no crashes no texture bugs no issues.
Only thing is probably the translation, like spelling things without capital letters, some items being named things like helmet02, new companions introduce themselves with lines from the vanilla companions and there are these really really awesome arenas scattered around where you solo lots of enemies for loot, but they feel unfinished.

I must say I appreciate the fresh content.

Thanks for responding. I am glad to hear that you experienced no crashes, texture and gamplay bugs. And becaue of your response I will get the mod :)

Just one more question. Can I download the full version of the mod, patches and all from moddb? Or, do I have to go to another website?

People complain about it crashing, but in actuality...its almost entirely because they didn't wait for certain things to load. Loading into the mod (from launching the game) can take a while since its so big. And certain scenes can take a while to load too (I didn't experience this one, but meeting a Ming lord I think in one city/fort takes 3-5 minutes to load). That is going by the comments though.

I've played a while and I get WAY less crashes (I actually haven't, but alt tabbing does cause CTDs for me though that does it even in vanilla warband just not as much) than the 1257 AD mod (which crashed A LOT more on me). Its pretty much as stable as Brytenwalda...which did occasionally crash, so probably just a normal "big" mod thing.

No texture/gameplay issues that I've seen. I haven't gone too far into it. But I looked at all the armors in the troop tree, and no missing textures. Too soon to say about gameplay, but seems fine.

I consider it a "beta" mod, its pretty much finished really...but its still being developed and some things aren't really fleshed out.

But, you'll either have to live with it...or fix the Inca Empire name. Which if this "fixes" it, its an easy 3 second job.

I just changed factions.csv and changed "non-allied empire" to "Inca Empire" fac_kingdom_30 is where it was. I'll go see if that fixed it in-game.

You can get it on moddb, but I think the version is old. You can look in the comments on moddb for version 1.6...its the newest and has a lot more stuff to it.

I chose ze Aztecs.
when i try to launch the game it freeze at loading textures screen, quite frustating does anyone know what actually happen
