I don't know what to do?
Hello people,

I really enjoy this game, i absolutely love what it is, and i would be playing it a ton if it wasnt for...
Not knowing what to do.

So, let me explain:

I made various new game's because nothing really seemed to work or im just terribly stupid.
After completing about 3 quests i just dont know what to do, i dont have enough men to take over a castle or to level up to get enough men for it in the first place, i am stuck at around 50 soldiers.

So...i cannot proccedd the quests because when i try to finish them, i dont find my quest giver anywhere, absolutely anywhere. I ask their women where they are at, just cant find them or wont even give me an answer.

OR, if i do manage to finish it, i cant get any new quests anywhere, everybody say sthey have no quests for me.

So what am i doing so wrong?
Am i not supposed to do quests?
Is there no more?

I am extremely confused as i really want to play this but just cant as there is nothing i could possibly do.

The guildmaster that is at every major city has quests almost always. You can find the person who gave you a quest by talking to a lord or lady of the faction the quest giver is from. Ask them where the person you are looking for is and they will usually tell you. You can increase the amount of soldiers you have by increasing your leadship. You should join a faction. You join a faction by talking to the faction's king. You also need to have at least 200 renown, which you get from fighting in battles. Check your notes to look at the amount of renown you have. When you have joined a faction, you can fight any faction that your faction is at war with. I'm not explaining any more. It's too hard. It's hopeless for you, move on.

As I can see many people who start the game have similar problem. That's just an issue with sandbox games. You can do whatever you want, so it's hart to find something to do. ;P
I advise hunting down some bandits, as your troops level up, you can try attack better bandits. It's good to experiment, you can always start a new game with new experiences or search through game wiki for info if you'd rather play on one save game.

Joining faction is alot of fun, especially on the begenning, becuase you begin to have some enemies, you can help Your lords in battles, get relations with them, become marshal, get married, get castles/cities etc. Begening as a freelancer is tempting, but more chalenging.

I didn't play native so much, more Brytenwalda mod, which is damn hard. I'm over 200h+ in game and I have never had a castle on my own in this game. So after 200h+ of gameplay I still didn't experience many of the features. So it's really worth trying.

OK, ignore the insult, he's trying to be funny. Welcome/unwelcome/leave. Punning in the lowest form of humor.

Your problem is that you have gotten a large army too soon. You do not have the training to train them, you and your companions do not have the might to win fights to level your troops, you do not have the income to pay for your army, you do not have the renown to join a faction, you do not have the army to fight battles that give you renown.

It's a vicious circle you should get out of.

This is what I think is a good way to start a M&B game.

1. Train (training field and arena) until your character has decent weapons skills, i.e. is not totally useless. Use the arena to get gear adequate for hunting looters at the very least.
2. Roam Calradia, looking for companions that get along, vanquishing those outlaws you can, and selling the loot for cash. Train companions into
- strategist (tactics, training, engineering) Ymira is a good choice
- medic (first aid, wound treatment, surgery, training) Jeremus is a good choice
- scout (path-finding, spotting, training, tracking) Klethi is a good choice
- horse archers (power draw, power strike, weapon master, riding, horse archery) Baheshtur and Deshavi
- warriors (power strike, iron flesh, weapon master, shield, riding) Alayen, Firentis, and Bunduk
Note that the eight I have listed above get along with each other. In Native, these are the best and the most you can have without trouble in the ranks.
3. Hire the minimum troops that will allow you to handle the number of bandits that the game generates for your level. Hunt those mercilessly, loot them, and sell the spoils. Use the money to equip your companions, and buy enterprises in as many cities as you can.
4. Hire yourself out as mercenary, and be a good one - follow orders, fight your employers' enemies, support your marshal, brownnose your employer's vassals. This is just so that you learn what being a lord is like without actually being one.
5. At the end of the first employment period, decide which faction you want to join. If you like the one that employs you, go to the king, and ask to be his vassal. If he does not welcome the idea, you have been lazy, so stay as a mercenary, and work harder. If you do not like your current faction, probably because they are a bunch of incompetent and quarrelsome ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, quit and go join someone else.
6. Protect your fief, get better at the game, fight, expand, learn the ropes. lead your faction to a victory if you can
7. Plan your next character who will do it right this time, and unite Calradia under his or her rule.

The next step you seem to skip is becoming a vassal to a faction.
It's a very enjoyable part of the game, and before you know it you will be much more powerful and able to field bigger armies.

Join a kingdom. Recruit peasants from villages and mercs from taverns in big cities. As you slowly add people start attacking bandits and bandit camps. Take everything and sell in town. Repeat this until you level up your leadership and a few kills. Then, start joining your marshall on campaigns ( you can get quests from friendly lords you meet on the map or in cities) It doesn't take long. Start raiding villages of rival factions. Save often (play on easy first go).

Ricky Gervais says that puns are indeed the lowest form of humor, personally, I think Tyler Perry films are. ;)

All you need is to have 150 renown. 200 if you're playing female.
To see your renown, view reports - Character report (reports are a tab at the bottom of the map view)
You gain renown by winning fights, bigger fights mean more renown but regardless, you will accumulate a lot of it by just playing. Few points at a time.

I should mention, try to get the right faction, one you want to play, especially consider their troop trees. You're likely to stay with them for a long time as vassalage isn't that easy to break off.
You can of course still recruit any troops, but you will often be at war with them, with your freedom of movement and access decreased, you will only be guaranteed to have access to your factions troops.

Look them up, myself I look out of:
1. Some sort of heavy infantry, ideally with a shield.
2. Some sort of ranged.
3. Heavy cavalry is a bonus.
RichieEB Mar 7, 2015 @ 9:00pm
It's normal, you're not suppose to just easily get a bunch of units and take over castles early on since you'll have alot of struggling since you're not known by the lords and leaders of other factions etc. It's a game that you can enjoy and pillage, fight, serve in for days IRL and slowly become very powerful.

What I usually do is I get myself 10-20 guys as volunteers for cheap price and it scares bandits away then chase bandits, kill them and loot then sell.

Repeat and as you ding up a few times you can lvl up your trade skill and eventully acess local prices from a maketplace and see which says sells alot to another city and you buy it and sell it there and make easy money.

While doing this you can Merc for the faction nords if you ask for a task eventually one of em will ask for you to merc and its easy money but mainly early on I just take bountys and collect taxes as joining as a merc can get you killed. (enemies of the faction you work for)

Add me on steam and I'll guide you with any questions you got as MnB isn't really the game you learn over a comment.

Go Nord. Just pledge yourself to their king. You can do it pretty darn fast.
