If you enjoy a slow-burning style of gameplay but with higher thresholds of adversity and scope of progression, then you might enjoy PoP.
PoP is distinct in that while it offers greater challenge overall, it also provides a higher ceiling of progression. In that sense the status-quo between player and realm has the potential to level-out, depending on how far you dig into progression.
The level of flexibility there is perhaps the best part about the mods design. It can be brutally hard or overly forgiving depending on how you approach it.
Furthering the point on flexibility, PoP is the only mod that offers a vast database of tweaks that allow unparalleled customization. It can be tuned extensively without any modding knowledge at all. Not only that, the mod also has a decently robust set of in-game configuration options.
Beyond that here are some selling-points that apply to me personally:
Large scope of warfare - The realm of PoP is high-conflict. Brimming with activity with many different factions and cultures.
Unique challenges - Powerful unique spawn armies. High-level non-regular Tournaments against 500-700 proficiency combatants. Unique story-driven siege encounters. Achievements. Faction usage of Knight order quality troops.
Unique rewards - Special fantasy item rewards. Unique and exclusive gear rewards. Achievement rewards.
CKO's - Custom Knighthood Orders- Fully customizable custom troop tree for player. Deep and fulfilling gear and stat-growth progression systems. CKO questlines and rank system.
Lore - Interesting story-driven mechanics and interactions. A vast array of cultures, sub-cultures and unique personalities. Complex dispositional connectivity between factions. Decent writing and companion storyboards.

Ultimately, PoP is quite a busy mod in terms of realm activity. There's always something to hunt and many things to strive towards. It has in my experience the highest degree of end-game continuity and depth of progression.
