How to turn cheats off?

I reloaded the game and turned them off in configuration but, I can still cheat and look at village info, and debug info appears on the bottom left still. How to I go back to normal?

Bring up the console in-game with the ~ key (sometimes it might be Ctrl + ~) then in the console type: nocheatmenu

cheatmenu is different then the cheats in the configuration before launching. cheatmenu is kind of a 'dev cheat mode' while cheats in the configuration is just for the player to become a god. Check the configuration again, I think you have to click 'apply' or something or else the change won't save.

Ok, cheats commands like (refill health) are disabled but I can still access cheat stuff in menus, and the stupid debug stuff still pops up.

then you need to turn cheats back on, bring up the console in-game with the ~ key and type nocheatmenu, then save, and turn cheats back off. I'm pretty sure you can't bring up the console menu without cheats being on, but I'm not 100%.

Yes, thats what I had to do. I had to re-enable them and then turn them off again. It worked.
