1st Playthrough mods or no?
Should I do my first complete playthrough of this game vanilla or are there any mods that are superior to start with?

Yes definitely vanilla so you get an understanding of the game. Then move on to mods.

Seconded.

There are mods that expand vanilla too.
Stick with the original game, get used to it. After that you can try mods.

Diplomancy might be worth a look, but beside that many mods targeted experienced players.

I think mods are always better when you can see how much they are changing
look for my upscaled pack for M&B it is 100% compatible with Warband even if incomplete because the textures I discarded are not seamless. I am testing and expanding it these days.
the faces are 10 times more natural. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3467585780

I divided by types, so you can use only faces if you want. I'm also fixing the textures for normal mapping that were not present in M&B 1, it's a boring job, I don't know if I'll release everything.

last thing, download reshade and use lumasharpen at lvl 1.000, it's powerful enough and enhances the upscaled textures in the medium distance vision.

Practically no one actually "finishes" the game, so just go ahead and play the native module until you understand the mechanics (basically up until the point where you get tired of spending 95% of your time in castle sieges)

Plenty of people finish the game. I know I have done it multiple times.

Less than 5% of people who own this game ever actually complete the campaign

Which means hundreds of thousands of people have done it, also those numbers only include PC. On console where there are no mods the percentage is higher.
There are a couple of mods that are basically enhancing of vanilla that I would have happily played with in place of vanilla, if I was to go back and do it all over again

Bannerpage would be my first choice

Diplomacy 4 Litdum would be my second choice

if you want to play on the vanilla map

I would also have happily skipped Vanilla for some of the other top mods in my historical warband mod experiences. The Vikings Conquest DLC Mod would be among them, since it introduced ships, and that was a huge thing for me. I really enjoyed taking towns directly by invading with my ships and jumping off the ships and engaging in the battle immediately upon landing on the shores. Was a lot of fun.

Something that was lacking in most other warband experiences, and bannerlord is only now finally admitting it can be done, after gaslighting for years and telling people it could not be done.

Taleworld lost quite a lot of good will from me, but I can not remember them saying that naval combat would not be possible, but that they have no plans to include it in the base game, although they might look at it again for a DLC.
Well to be fair I was referring to the taleworlds alt accounts that gaslight people in the forums

of course there is no evidence, they are very crafty at managing peoples comments and views on the forum and deleting things and people
I appreciate everyone’s responses. I didn’t thank anyone for feedback because I forgot to subscribe to my own discussion and see responses smh
I think playing vanilla for above 20 h is pretty much necessary so you know what you would actually want to mod. Not that you'd come close to completing your first game within 20 h anyway.
