Multiple trainers can benefit, but they can only generate xp for character/troops lower level then themselves.
So if you have a 14 PC (with 1 trainer), 12 Npc (with 2 trainer), 2 recruits and a Nord warrior, every night the NPC will get 2 xp, the recruits will gain 6, and the Nord and the PC will gain nothing and will say that 14 xp was gained from training.
Most troops around 12-15 (with t3 and 4 troops being high teens to mid 20's), new recruits are around 5-6 or so...tier 1 is usually around 9 or so.
So in order for trainer to be useful, you need to level the characters with it up quickly. Adding more points to trainer just changes how much xp each applicable character will recieve from that trainer.
