1. Hammer - right-click while you have the hammer and you'll be given the choices of what kind of defenseworks you'd like to build (e.g., spikes, planks, barrels, sandbags, etc).

Select one of them, and you will instantly have a (disassembled) defensive structure in front of you -- no one else can see it at this point other than you because it doesn't really exist yet, it's just there for you as a guide.

You then need to keep hitting it with your hammer until the progress bar is filled. Once it does, then you are done and you've built your very first structure, yay!!! (Optional: at this point, you get up and dance around the room and celebrate)

Repair: If some enemies stop by and damage any of your structures but they're not completely destroyed yet, then you can always come back to it and keep hitting it with the hammer again to repair it by filling up the bar again.

Note that building any sort of structure will only work if you have build points (or BPs) remaining (it shows you on the top of the screen when you are about to choose what structure to build). Build points are shared with the entire team, not just yours, so be careful about building the appropriate structures and at the correct place. If you just start building whatever stuff you want with no reason at all, or place them in locations that really don't help your side then everyone in your team will hate on you for wasting BP.

2. Shovel - on maps with open terrain, you can use the shovel to dig on the dirt, sand, etc. in order to raise the ground in front of you so that your teammates can use it to hide behind by crouching and firing on top of it. You may also want to build some in front of your team's artillery if they are exposed to help partially protect your teammates manning the cannons, howitzers, and mortars. Some people have cautioned against trying to build earthworks too high because they say there's a bug and will cause the map to wigg out on you.

*** Explosive crates - some servers have strict limits on what you can and cannot do with crates (for example, they may say defenders are prohibited from using them, etc). Be sure you know what their rules are regarding them before you start using one because they can be quite serious about it and their admins can ban you from their game if you don't listen to them.

I highly recommend joining an empty server first so that you can experiment, and while no one else is around just go ahead and run around and start building and disassembling different kinds of stuff on different locations (along with trying out any other tips that others may give you here) so that by the time you join one of the ongoing battles as an engineer-class, your skills will be at a reasonable enough level to be able to help out the team.

Happy building!!!

"Find a building. Plant 5-6 tnt crates in it. Wait for the enemy. Proceed to light and team kill 4 players."

It's completely up to the server, I know BBG Bot Survival does it.

whats the axe for?
janat08 Aug 29, 2016 @ 7:27am
apparenlty for deconstruction, but it's a fine weapon especially if u give it to black watch.

Axes are the best at destroying wooden structures, like doors and stockades.

I placed some sandbags with the hammer's right click, but then I could not get the progress bar to move. I tried left click, right click, and F with every item. Any ideas?

you gotta just swing the hammer at the sandbag like a weapon and make sure it makes contact with it(itll make a sound)

Thanks, I kept trying that and eventually it worked. I think the game was just glitching out.
