Here is a lsiting of the swords available in VC:RE. Many of these can only be obtained by special means and I canot guarantee that all can be obtained. The source of this information was the item cheat menu in game. Subject to change. Multiple variants of some named items exist and are noted. Variants with different models but the same stats are ignored. Short seax and knives are not included. Some of these swords may be found in superior quality versions and will have stats modified as usual by the quality.

So it looks like the Goidelic Noble Long Sword has the most slashing damage for the one handed swords. I have not seen many of these around though. Without doing any story or events or attacking units that have the weapons it looks like the Widow Maker is the easiest high damage sword to obtain but you need a significant amount of renown before you can buy it. Among the one handed swords commonly found in shops I think the Briton Sword has the highest slashing damage. You might be able to find a better one hander in shops but I am not sure.

Bandit sword is on the bandit king when you get the nad in the roman ruins (I think)

I know I'm a little late, but you get the Bandit King Sword by clearing "Odin's Cave" in "Northvegr".

I think nad was the in strange ruins, if not its one of the other special locations.

off subject some, but I'd like to find better armor like I found in the story mode. as far as swords I like the Bandit King best.

You can acquire some decent medium armor from a few special locations as rewards for the challenges at them. You can get some good armor by special order from some smiths if you have sufficient renown and cash. You can also get some from fighting enemies with good armor and looting them. Occasionally you can get decent armor by taking it from a lord that you have captured but it will cost a lot of honor and relation. You can also of course sometimes get okay armor from general loot and shops. The primary restircitions on better armor are strength and cash. You can acquire armor that come close overall to the best armor in the story mode. Also don't neglect hands, feet, and head.

re the Goidelic champ sword, the 2 hander can not be used on horseback. re the armor, yep, I max out all body parts they allow. Still want something like Orms Lorica. Also, since I'm playing at greater difficult, every little thing hurts more! I want to have a special that opens up one more weapons or whatever, slot that could be used on inventory, like a cloak or something

I could get the Goidelic Noble Long Sword.

The method is:
From captured lords and kings!

When you are holding them captive in your party, you have the option to take his equipment(s), I forgot which of them has the Goidelic Noble Long Sword but if I recall correctly, one of those lords has it. However, doing that would make me lose reputation, losing relationship with the lord and his family (including daughter). Therefore I reloaded and didn't take it.

Or just defeat some Irish lords or deserters with just your companions and Looting skill at 14.
