Yes. Try sticking a couple of arrows or javelins in his head, it seems to be the easiest way.

Yes. I like to use the same tactics Tuidjy mentioned. I have beat him just by close combat before too though. I have not fought him yet in Reforged but he used to have a weapon with bonus shield damage but not block crush. That's a hint for how I did it.

You can kill him fairly easily after you have a shield and a sword that does some damage. keep hitting him in the head. youll achieve the Trolls Axe from him, which in general is useless since you cant use it horseback and you cant use a shield with it, means you get maimed by arrows.

Haven't beaten him in hand to hand, but he goes down in 4-5 javelins.

Defeat him just with malee hits is hard. Try some hit him with some javalins and them try to kill him with your sword.
I just equipe me full with just javalins and jump up a rock and stay there trowlling the javalins on him

No honor in this, my friend.

That is a terrible way to cheat anyways. You can use the instakill cheat instead. Leveling up a lot will just break the game at a certain point and ruin your save.

I was level 10. Living the lordly life in Denmark. I had been given a small fief in the north for my efforts in defending the kingdom. As I was marching south towards the Port of Ribe, I noticed that the Troll's Bridge was at the very end of the river, instead of being over the river as one would think a bridge would dictate. As curiosity demanded, I approached the bridge. Upon entering the scene, I was confronted by a burly giant of a troll. He demanded that I pay the troll a toll. Being the obstinate man that I am, I refused, thus challenging him to an honorable duel.
He drew his weapon, gazing upon me with malicious intent. I drew my own weapon, and approached him with haste. He raised his weapon high above his head for a crushing blow. The Troll fell over, two javelins protruding from his face. I walked away with a new weapon.

The reason why he is so tough is that his clothing is a special unique item that has the stats of a reinforced suit of good mail armor (60 body armor, IIRC) while still looking like a simple Irish garb. Very decieving.

Javs to head, several should do it, less if you are good with throwing, really anything ranged and relatively fast. I kill him usually shortly after getting to danmark to get his axe, which i then never use and keep as a trophy.
