The Holmgang Quest Bug (Spoiler Ahead)

Hi,

I am currently playing the storyline of Mount and Blade: Warband - Viking Conquest and I found myself in a looping bug during the quest "The Holmgang: Killing a Hirdman".

Basically during the Assembly I chose to duel Reginhard to death (because I don't like him). I wait a bit after the Assembly ends and I am greeted by man at arms that transport me over to the Island where I have to duel with Reginhard.

Basically what happens is that every time I defeat Reginhard nothing happens! The quest does not advance and 4 hours later I am greeted by the same man at arms that transport me over to the same island where I have to duel with the same Reginhard.

I think the problem comes to the fact that every time I defeat Reginhard I do not kill him but render him unconscious. I tried a variety of weapons (swords, axes, longbows, etc) but every time I render him unconscious.

How do I kill him for good? I do not care if it forces to cheat, at this point I only want to advance the storyline and kill the bastard.

I've again tried different things like trying to see if i could tweak some data so the quest would be considered completed but I can't find anything. Has anyone encounter that problem before?

I played it several times and never encountered this problem, but I heard that someone had to replay it 4 times, and it doesn't matter if you kill or render him unconscious (in my current game Reginhard became unconscious, and believe me, it makes some sense after the storyline). Keep dueling until it works, that's all I can recommend.

Basically tried 50 times now ;p. Still nothing.

Are you waiting harald's msg waiting in town? Could you wait him out, moving around?

I tried waiting in camp. Waiting while moving. Waiting while in town. I'm gonna try waiting while sailing. Thank you dev for trying to help me. It's rare to have such attentions ;p

Ok finally it worked! I enable Cheats and teleported my party around, visited locations and stuff and after a while the quest worked.

Thanks dev for the help. It means a lot to witness the devs caring for their player's well being ;p

I will check this quest out again, I need to see why this is causing problems.
