Sorry, I had to ask because recently we *couldn't* play Attila Total War together because in that game OS choice does affect multiplayer. I'm glad it is not so here :)

No, because those are completely different builds of the game. Not the same as PC and Mac which both run the same build of Mount and Blade, while the Xbox would use an Xbox build of the game that was ported over to work specifically on Xbox.
For all intents and purposes, they're different games.
