You can find the stray dogs in the villages whenever you walk in "stroll in the village" style. you just need to talk to the village elder beforehand, and most likely need to make a new save because new troops (dog) wont refresh to old saves.
What i meant was make a TOTALLY new save (start a new game.)
patch wont fix it. there are new scripts that wont work with old saves. So no patch is coming.
But seriously, the dog is not all that useful, and the interface for dealing with it is not there, either. Even in saves which allow me to get one, I do not.
If I use a dog I will usually put him in front of my troops as a block for incoming horses or any enemy. AI goes for the dog.
