Disappearing items

This is the second time I've had the bottom rows of my items disappear. The first time it was the bottom 3 rows (I lost 6 horses I used to reduce weight and 3 bread). The second time (now) I lost 6 horses (I used to reduce weight), a masterwork khergit bow (saving for when I could use it), 6 bread, Manuel of Arms (+1 trainer), The Book of Healing (+1 wound treatment), The Great Book of Surgery (+1 Surgery), Rhetorrica Ad Herrenium (+1 persuasion when finished. I wasn't), and The Life of Alixenus the Great (+1 leadership when finished. I wasn't).
The horses and bread were cheap, but the books and the masterwork khergit bow? Maybe totalling around 40k in losses. So, I'm pretty pissed about this. Can anyone explain why I lost about 40k worth of books that I may not even be able to re-obtain?

I had to go all the way around Calradia to get to the two book merchants (the two the traveller told me about anyways, since I use diplomacy mod).
The only books I managed to re-find was The Life of Alixenus the Great (the only one I cared about, at least, but still) and The Book of Healing. The persuasion would have been nice, but unless Book Merchants restock (or there's more book merchants I haven't found) then those books will be lost forever :(.

Anyone know why or this BUG is a thing and how to prevent it in the future?

From my experience, don't keep items in the bottom rows

I don't know exactly the reason

But I believe when I upgraded the inventory is when it happens, so now I just don't keep things down there anymore, I keep valuable items at the top. I know it's a pain because you have to scroll down beyond those and food to get to your actual inventory

But that is the only thing I found helped prevent it
