Viking Conquest: Alt Clut
Has anyone been having trouble siding with Alt Clut? I've gone over many savegames, before and after Reforged, and it seems that Alt Clut is a terribly difficult kingdom to progress with. I found that for even a chance to win against Northymbre (Who Alt Clut is essentially always at war with) My side will need at least twice the troops that they have. Whether it's me alone or me fighting with the king/vassals.
Does anyone have any tips on combat to lessen the loss/rediculous difficulty of playing Alt Clut?
I'm feeling that either Briton troops are underpowered, or that Norse troops are extremely overpowered.
I'd also like to keep team damage on 100% as it would make fighting the other Celtic kingdoms really easy if turned down.

Just now found a great example of this:
Jarl Halfdan Ragnarsson: 450 / Everyone else in Northymbre averaging 200-300 / full army ~ 1500
Caradoc Map Riwall: 150 / Everyone else in Alt Clut averaging 20-35 / Full army ~ 400/500
This isn't a bad few weeks for Alt Clut losing battles, this is constant from the beginning.

Yes, Norse troops are more powerful, at equivalent tiers, but not so much that they'd counterbalance good player tactics. Pulling close victories is a sure way to defeat anyway. If you are not going to crush the enemy without significant losses, don't fight!

But if your lords are in the 20-35 range, it's because you have been on the losing end of the war for a while. Your allied lords have been defeated, and when they tried to recruit a new force, they found their villages raided, and their income severely reduced.

My advice is not to involve yourself into organized warfare until you can handle any lord easily, and have enough friends amongst your factions' lords to cripple a campaign.

So, don't fight at all? None of the lords have any villages anymore, we only have Dun Breatann now, and all the castles were taken long before I even became a vassal. They were getting smashed with or without me.
Also, player tactics have nothing to do with them still needing twice as many troops without me even getting involved.

If you really want to see Alt Clut to survive start a new game - the fights do change - in my game +400 days they still do exist (not for long started my kingdom with Dun Breatann and Cell Rigmonaid and intend to make my own Skotland/Pictland).

Even Cornubia still exists and they were able to recapture their Homeland - everyone declared war against West Seaxe and they were not able to hold everything.

Higher Tiers of Norse Troops are really strong - more likely their Tier 3 archers, Tier 3/5 spear and melee fighters - Northymbria doesn't fight only with Norse units - they do have a mixed Angle/Norse Army

But Britons have at least for me good Tier 2 Freeholders (Light Spearman) - Picts have awesome Tier 3 melee units

My game's going well too, overall, which is why I don't want to restart. I'm also doing quite well personally.
Gwynnedd, Bosvenegh, Cornubia, and the rest of the Brittonic kingdoms have pushed England away almost entirely. West Seaxe has one city left and no castles. Mierce and Engles have been knocked out entirely. Alban expanded into Norway and captured all but the capital.
Really it's just that we've been getting crushed since day one, and can't seem to recover without all the 20-30 troop lords throwing themselves against an army of 300.
