Memory could not be written error.
Every time I try and play the game, I get this error. http://puu.sh/9FJbv/c5e946c88a.png

Yes, I've tried verifying the game cache, uninstalling and deleting all the files to be reinstalled, doing a Memory test to make sure everything was alright, reinstallingdirectx, c++, and everything else under the sun. Anyone have any other suggestions, because I'd like to play this game. It's definitely something on my end, because I torrented a "backup" copy to see if it was a problem with steam, and that copy also gives me the same error.

Seems like the application's trying to modify something that's read-only. If you haven't already, maybe perhaps try running the game as Administrator?

Hm, still nothing. I did forget to mention that it will get me to that "Paradox Entertainment" video thing, but when the actual game tries to start, that's when I get the error. I also have Fire & Sword as well as the original M&B, and both of those manage to work fine, it's only this one I have issues with, and of course it's my favorite of the three that manages to mess up...

Well, one of the things that Warband does is that it configures its settings by creating a folder for its own use in your documents folder.

For example, if you have XP, that'll be located under:
[My Documents] > [Mount&Blade Warband]

And then you'll see files that the game placed in there. Do you have that folder? Was it able put stuff in it? What happens if you delete the rgl_config file that's in there and then try launching the game again after that? Just curious to see what would happen...

there's only language.txt and that rgl thing you mentioned, but deleting it and trying did make the game work! If it's not too much trouble, do you know why that fixed it?
That's good to hear. It's a configuration settings file. My guess is that it somehow got corrupted for some reason. When you tried reinstalling the game, it of course stays there and wouldn't get removed (unless you do so manually) and so when you re-launch the (reinstalled) game, it'll still keep using that bad file. By deleting it, you force the game to create a new/clean file from scratch.

Anyway, enjoy!
