Viking conquests factions
Ok, very odd question..

I was starting a fairly new game, joined up with a faction thats at war with another faction. Great, situation normal.

Now I see an enemy lord attacking a group of renegades. I try and join, figure it won't let me as the game forbids three way fights.. but it allows me to aid the renegades. Again, great.

However, once I defeat the lord I gain faction with the renegades. My question is this, what happens if I actually improve it? Will they no longer attack me? Less of a rep/morale hit if I ask them to join? And finally, are there other hidden factions I am missing out on?

What about the Frankish raiders, Vikingrs or Danish? Then you have the Christian and Norse which also count as factions. Can't think of any more though.

Yeah never seen a faction gain/reduction with vikings or danish. I just think it'd be neat if it were possible to build up your faction to a positive degree. Imagine being able to use them as allies in fights.
*sees an example*
Oh no, I have 30ish troops and this guy with 300 people is about to corner me! Oh wait, there is another group 60 viking raiders nearby to assist. Score!

In Viking Conquest, you most certainly can get to the point where renegades will not consider you an enemy by assisting them in battle. You can also be infamous enough to be welcomed in their hideouts. But be aware that there are quite a few separate 'outlaw' factions. For example, thieves (ruffians, bandits, etc...) and masterless men (faction troop deserters) are not the same faction and will fight each other.

There are tons of factions - commoners, adventurers, neutrals, etc... You will discover them as you go. If you want to know the mechanics, get a save game editor, and check the relations category.

Hmm, then the question is, if I lose faction when I attack them? I am guessing so, but since that information isnt displayed... its hard to be sure. Or do you lose faction when clearing out thieves dens and etc? Trying to figure out how viable it is, to have a good reputation, and still have vikings/rennegades on your side. (Thieves on the other hand would make useless allies)

I don't know... vikings are my best source of income. I can make 40-50k per week if I spend it hunting vikings and renegades with just my companions. I would rather kill the degenerates, and use the money to hire and maintain an army of factions troops.

Ok thats nice, I have *never* had any luck trying that. How many companions are you using? I am a stickler for liking Solvieg and Brunhild, and um Elig(sp?) So I normally roll with 5ish companions.

I tried giving them horses, but that only meant that died that much faster. So I am really curious as to how you ended up gearing your npcs. I am always hurting for cash, and replacing even 1-2 elite troops every other battle is enough to bankrupt me. (Thats also with a town, with merchants rest, but taxes set to low)

In the story line, I gather as many as I can.

In the sand box I just started, but I am trying to gather: Brunhild, Clovis, Morgant, Bodo, Asbjorn, Dwywei, Beda and Ceawlin. I think they may get along fine... Egil and Solvieg are poison to a party.
