Viking Conquest, Reforged. Right to Rule...or lack there of!
I have a lvl 26 Irishmen. I helped one of the Pretenders Claim the throne in Ireland, united half of the country under his banner, plus a large chunk of Northhymbre. I started toying with the idea of leaving his service to start my own kingdom. I check my stats, and low and behold, No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Right to Rule! Big fat goose egg. I have other toons around his lvl, with 36, to 85 right to rule. Was helping the pretender the reason for my goose egg? or rolling an Irishmen? My other guys with half decent right to rule were a Norse and a Friese.

There are a few ways to get right to rule, but it is quite easy to fail triggering any of them.

The most common ways are:
- creating a character with right to rule
- getting married to a prominent noblewoman
- sending companions on mission to raise your right to rule
- belonging, or running, a faction that sings a peace treaty with another faction

So, if you create your character as a commoner, never ask a companion to praise your leadership, never get married, and install a claimant to the throne which at no point makes peace with the existing ruler... you get no right to rule.

You can get cracking and work on it. It will go faster than starting a new character. And anyway, you do not NEED right to rule. If you have enough fiefs and men, you can rebel and crush those who oppose you. Give your enemies a bloody nose, then make them accept a cease fire, and you will get some right to rule. Or destroy them utterly - it will do nothing for your right to rule, but it will get you closer to paining the map one single color.

So defeating enemy lords is not the way to get it. And I shouldn't have helped this clown gain his throne...So I should leave him, not give back my holdings, and rebel...Very interesring! Thanks for the advice.

I have two port towns, a 3rd town, and 4 or 5 castles, this should be fun! Thanks again

The easiest way to get a bunch is to send many companions out on missions to gain support. You can send one every few days - you don't have to wait for the first one to return to send another.

You can also send most companions away on mission immediately after hiring them before they start to argure with any others or object ot your actions. If you don't want them as a permanent party member you can just dismiss them after they return.

In VC it works almost the same as in Native, just with different companions.

You can also sign up as a mercenary for some faction that is cycling through many short wars to gain some every time they sign a peace treaty.
