Do I need Mods?
Greetings,

I just recently picked up this game and have some inquiries. I kind of jumped in full stop without much knowledge of the game and not sure I will experience the best gameplay. I see a lot of posts saying I need mods, specifically Floris mod. Is there a free and safe website to download this from? I have found one that cost money to register and one that had my virus protection sending me warnings.

I also followed the advice of better max money on myself at my first tounry and lost during one of the last rounds when I was forced to use a bow in a 3 person FFA. ♥♥♥♥ sucked.

Anyways thanks for the help

For mods, I suggest going to either the official Taleworlds forums or the Warband Nexus.
Both are free of charge (and quite safe, never had issues with either of them)

And no, you don't need mods, but the amount of available mods for this game makes up quite a bit of it's appeal, IMO.

Just be aware that a big chunk of those mods are "just" reskins, pretty much, maybe new factions with new items, but on the whole, nothing much changes core gameplay wise.

There are a few collections of original mini mods that are incorporated in pretty much every single of the "better" mods, though, Floris among them.

They still play like Warband, but have, like I said, a lot of the better mini mods built in, making them actually worthwhile.

u dont need mods, ide actually reccomend playing either native vanilla or viking conquest for a little while before u do, but when u do pick up mods then make a free nexus account if u dont mind the 5-10 minutes for that, or ModDB is free and safe. Nexus downloads the mods WAYYY faster tho

I would recomend Perisno, the last days of the third age(lord of the rings), The qonquers of choulthorn,The reckoning and the best of all they are all on the steam workshop so you dont neeed to mess with your files or extract ♥♥♥♥:)

Thanks for your responses. Think I'll just give native a good go. Sometimes when you pick up a new game thats been out for a while and look at tips or reviews from veterans, it makes you second guess things.

ya perisno is awesome, so is last days of the third age and Phantasy Calradia, The Reckoning is super unfinished and abandoned and is really janky

Don't bother dude, most veterans forget how is to pickup the game from scratch. I'd recommend you to try out everything in native first. Play a few games, try different strats, there's no right way to play it. Try to get the achievements done, they can be a good guide at start, showing you thing you can do. Google for the mount&blade wikia when you have doubts about a feature, it'll cover most of the basics pretty well. Once you feel you are done learning, I'd say try some mods out. It won't hurt and you can still play native alongside. Some mods add quite unique troops and features, and help to keep a "fresh air" to the game if you are bored, with new maps and historical settings too. Good luck getting bored tho :warhorse:
