No. If you want horns, mod it in.

Do whatever you like with your game. If you want to add stupid stuff, go right ahead. Leave my game alone.

How are horned helmets stupid? U wouldn't have to use them if they were in game so what's it matter
Eric Grungion Nov 24, 2015 @ 4:57am
Because vikings didn't actually wear horned helms. That is a myth

Because this game is very accurate and they try to be realistic, so to add some made up myth would be the same as saying "Hey I heard there were also dragons in this time period, can someone make a mod where dragons come into play too? You don't have to have one it should just be in the game!" I think a lot of people are very uneasy at the idea of stupid suggestions since so many games now just do what they think will get the most people, so a realistic DLC is rare and I swear to god if you don't back off with this there will be hell to pay one of us will find you, just make the mod yourself and don't release it or else.

Its AIMING for realism, doesnt mean it needs to be 100%.

They decided to stick with realistic armors of that time period, when there was no horns in helmets, or really rarely even were. Horns in armors started around 1000-1100, and the game takes place in Britains conquest in 890s

Horned helmets for vikings are not historically accurate. There is no real world evidence to suggest that vikings ever wore horned helmets. I guarantee you there's a mod for it though.

NEWER vikings did use horns. but it was as late as 1000-1100s, and even then rarely, as it was just useless weight on the helmet. Game takes place in 890s

You need to join a german theatre house if you want to see Vikings with Horn helmets.

A helmet is designed to deflect a blow to the head. Putting anything that could catch a blade on it, is quite beyond stupid.

Viking Horn helmets are a creation of the Wagner Opera.

This is what a viking helmet looked like:

Its not useless weights, its a means to get your neck broken and give your enemy leverage. It is quite dangerous.

Any helmet that has large ornaments on top of it, was simply a display helmet, to be carried around in times of peace, not during combat.

I'll dispute your last point a bit, in terms of vikings and european countries you are probably right. However the Japanese in particular used a lot of ornamentation and decoration on their helmets, mainly the Samurai.
