[VC] Reputation and cities
Hi,

Is it true that if i have a bad reputation (by raiding, attack farmers, etc), when i'll have towns, theirs relations with me will decrease gradually ? Same thing for vassals

What can i do about that ? How to have a stable kingdom by being a pagan raider ?

Bad news, my blood-thirsty Pagan friend - the game hates you and your kingdom will never be "stable".

When you raid a village you create enmity between you and the lord who owns it. That lord will have a hate on for you and will likely come to burn your stuff for the duration of the game.

When you raid a monastery, all Christians everywhere will hate you and most of the game will slowly hate you a little more every day.

If you attack farmers, you are a ♥♥♥♥. Everyone will know it.

There is a specific style of playthrough where the player deliberately plays this way in order to become a sort of Bandit King who recruits other bandits to form an army. You probably won't be making many friends by doing this however.

Of course, in VC, playing like a Paladin will get you the exact same thing...lol

There is no "stable", not in VC anyway. That DLC is designed for constant, perpetual combat and strife. There will always be someone trying to burn your stuff, you will get dragged into nine different wars simultaneously, if the Christians don't hate you, the Pagans will, etc.

You can try to mitigate the rep loss with a lord in an attempt to repair some of the damage you have done but there are twenty other guys who hate you just as much, burning your stuff and harassing you every step of the way.

The only solution I have ever found is to go back and play Warband every now and then. That is like a breath of fresh air...OMG, I can actually go and sell some salt without the world catching on fire while my back is turned!

If i have a bad reputation (honor), will all the christians lords, cities, factions, etc, will hate me ? Or only those i attacked (theirs cities, caravans, etc) ?

Thanks

You either play Viking Conquest as an Maurading Pagan Viking, who doesnt let a single christ alive. Or you play as the Stable King. You cant do booth.
White Knight Oct 26, 2015 @ 3:33am
Yes.

The longer answer is yes, negative effects of low reputation and honour will affect all of your character's relations with NPCs to a greater or lesser degree. Yes, the lords of the fiefs you attack will come for revenge and yes, the factions whose caravans you raid will be upset with you.

Those are all examples of how to make enemies. Sacking a place of worship will get you negative relations with the people of that faith, raiding villages and such will get you rapid reprisals. Low rep and honour will depend upon how low those numbers get and who you are dealing with, etc.

Ok but if i have a horrible reputation (just that, regardless and how i had that reputation), what is the malus exactly ? -4 malus relations with some lords ? -10, -50, -100 ?

And what about the cities (those i never attacked) i own or not, will they be upset because my reputation or not ?
Radioman Oct 26, 2015 @ 5:41am
From what I have seen so far, the entirty of Engelelands and Irlands Lords that i hadn't met so far have an relation of atleast -1, and I have a Repetuation of -5. Villages arent affected though.
tonic22 Oct 26, 2015 @ 5:51am
Well, reputation of -5 is not big. What about the worst reputation ever ? ^^
Radioman Oct 26, 2015 @ 5:59am
From what I have heard: You bassicily cant recruit at any village anymore, everyone hates you. You cant set up buisnesses anywhere becouse of bad relation with their Lord. Manhunters aswell as all the lords will try to kill you.

Thx. Another question : How to degrade or improve relations with religions ? I'd like to know what actions exactly please ^^

And where to look our relation with a "religion" ? In a menu ?
Radioman Oct 26, 2015 @ 6:13am
You can either give money to Clerics traveling the Lands (The Pilgrams traveling in ~7 men big groups), or you can give Money to Monestarys via the Abbots. Or you can directly Change your Religion, I dont know if you can still do that with bad Relations though. Thats what you can do to improve with the Christs.

With the Pagans, you can go to the Mystic Stone Cyrcil and talk to the Druid and give him Money. And if you want to take a look at the relations, go to the Character screen. (NOT the Skills Screen, the VC Unique Character one)

Ok but i don't see relation with a religion, only with kingdom, lords... How to find it ? :/
tonic22 Oct 26, 2015 @ 8:45am
I can't give money to abbots. And when i give money to clerics, i gain morale but no relation with catholics... So how can i improve my relation with this religion without converting ? I don't understand ? :/

It is very easy to increase relation with your own religion - just donate cash, every day or so, to the religious figure in a lord's hall.

It is significantly harder to increase relations with a religion which you are not practicing. Still, there are ways:
- help their parties when they are attacked by outlaws, or lords of the opposing religion
- check for quests in religious locations, and fetch whatever they need
- when you have a random event in a fief of yours, take the side of the religion you're not practicing

It takes a while, but it is really nice when both religions think that you can do no wrong. Even if you plan on turning the map Pagan, which my character is doing, it helps if the Christians love you. He has relation 99 with Pagans and 53 with Christians. More than half his army is Christians, no Pagan shrine has ever been burned, and Christian towns love him... up to and beyond the point they turn Pagan.

You can achieve more with a kind word and a big sword than you can achieve with a big sword alone.

Is there a way to convert the People besides building a Pagan "church"? Also, when do I get Morale penalties for attacking Monestarys? In my earlier playthroughs I always got a Morale decrease, in my Current one nothing happens.
Tuidjy Oct 26, 2015 @ 9:14am
You also can convert by force, but you need a lot of relation with your religion, and a significant number of priests/gothi in your party. As for morale penalties, I have never gotten any with any character, but it may be because the character that is sacking monasteries employs nothing but Norse troops.
