If you want to keep it easy and just persevere to complete your strategic goals then be aware that auto-resolve is almost always going to result some casualties regardless. If you are bored with the battles you could have generally better battle results by entering the battles and letting them all charge (depending on the type of army you have) and then step away from the computer for a few minutes until it is done.
Or maybe it's time for a new game if you're already tired of the combat.
I just finished off a caravan gaurd, just 2 left, the master and one of his gaurds I had 80 elite troops, let them finish them off. caravan master and his gaurd managed to kill 2 huscarls, a rhoodoc marksman, and knock out two of my generals. 2 vs 80.
leader or no, I'd love to see the replay of such stupidity.
