Don't. Keep defeating them. Eventually THEY will send an emissary to you to sue for peace. Why lose the services of a companion for weeks (plus if you should send an embassy off for peace, the game scripting will prevent the enemy from sending one to you until your 'quest' finishes). You can then accept their peace terms and gain a boost your RtR as well.
There is no 'they hate me too much to make peace' thing. NO SUCH THING. Initiating 10 battles will already drop you to -100.
It falls down to the number of defeats plus fiefs lost and also time. A long war, multiple defeats (better to defeat lords individually) and fief-less lords... (one exploit, take a town, strip to garrison to none. Let them take it back. Repeat. Bonus for waiting until a lord gets assigned to the fief before taking it back. You can raise the faction's dissatisfaction quickly with this and cause the marshal to be demoted as well)
