What are some tips on aiming and hitting people with the musket? I often shoot 5 bullets and don't hit anything.

Random in your circle, just aim straight

Aim for a group close together so that if you miss your target you may hit someone else.

Just when aiming have the person in the centre of the circle, I've hit people all the way across a map like that.

Notice that when aiming in first person (R key) your aim will be on a different spot than on 3rd person, and this is the "real" spot (in reality shots will go random all the circle, sometimes even outside, with some more % in the center dot). No problem aiming on 3rd person, but you gotta know where you are really aiming at. I'm so used to press R before aiming I don't even notice anymore, but if an enemy is close enough and I gotta shoot fast before melee I just stay on 3rd person.
