Combat speed stuck in one setting
For some reason, I'm unable to affect the combat speed. Using the options menu, even messing about in the config ini-file, nothing affects combat speed anymore.

I had it set to slowest, to find my "bearings" (I'm fairly new at it), and when I switched it once to "fastest" to speed up the routing enemies and lessen my wait time, it got stuck.

I'm doing decently in the game even with game speed being what it is, but still, I don't like a game not doing what I want.

What I've tried so far:

- options menu: doesn't work
- ini-change
- uninstalling
- deleting everything associated with M&B Warband (including registry entries and hidden data in AppData folder)
- reinstalled several times
- I even tried pushing all the settings to max, but it seems my rig doesn't even flinch.

I'm thankful for any help!

Are you sure it's not up and you don't notice it? The only thing combat speed does is effect how fast a wepon slashes and how fast one can pull up a shield or to block say a wepon. If your new, then it might be possible that it is fixed, you just don't notice it. I my self am going on 1600 hours and can hardly tell speed Normal to Speed fast.

So you're saying it doesn't affect movement speed in battle, but only blocking and slashing? Hmmm, interesting.

Thing is: It was really slow once. Like molasses, as if I was watching battles at half speed. I really enjoyed it (after hating it for about 1 minute), since it gave me some breathing room, especially as an archer, where I need the time to aim. Killing 5-6 swadian man at arms with headshots within a minute right at the start (after about the first month) felt very nice. It allowed me to win tournaments right from the start, which was very helpful.
Then, as I said, I changed it during battle since I didn't want to wait around forever for the last few routing enemies, and haven't been able to slow it back down ever since.

I don't know why, from what I know it only effects fighting factors it's self, of course being slashing and blocking. I might be wrong though

Thanks for your reply anyway. Would make sense. That means the game was slow that one time because of other things. Maybe background virus scan or something.

I'm having this problem too. I normally play on fastest, but for some inexplicable reason the game decided to bump it down to slow and I haven't been able to get it to being fast again despite changing the setting in the options screen. I thought it was just me but I checked the speeds of my animations against youtube footage of people playing on "fastest." This really irks me.

Yeah. I get how that feels, yet I've never been able to fix that.

The easiest way in an existing save game is to load the game go immediatly to options and set the battle speed and save - load again and look if the battle speed has changed

But i think you guys did that - so ehm no clue what to do ^^

Isn't some specific options saved in your save game and not in the game data? - don't think that deleting the game works - a new character could solve the problem
