Best business to have?
I currently have around 8500 coins and I think investing in a buisness would be very profitable. Which one do you guys reccommend to be the best business to have?

it depends on the town where you own business. just click on every business, the townmaster will give you information about business. analise it and choose the best option.

Dyeworks at Rivacheg as your first enterprise. Needs 10k though. But pays between 800-1500 per week.

Which is about x2/x3 then what any other Dyeworks will give. And none of the other enterprizes even come close.

Breweries in the middle East (desert), the towns there don't produce it but they make tons of grain, it's 2500 denars to invest and will bring about 150 denars each week.

Business is rubbish. Costs 10,000-30,000 to buy, brings in 200-400 per week. Hunt bandits, more fun, more money and you dont have to pay to do it.

You play Native? Maybe its the mods I've been playing raised the buy in price for business.
If that is the case, ignore my previous statement.

The main benefit of enterprizes is that's it's money you don't have to do anything for once it's set-up. And it eventually becomes quite ridiculous after you get a handful enterprizes, allowing you to splurge on gear to pimp out your self and companion's gear since your weekly upkeep will already be taken care of, so all the money you make from fighting is pure profit. Or if you just to decide to chillax for a while and enjoy a good book or 5.

As your army size gets higher and the number of garrisons you have to maintain gets larger, you end up having to CONSTANTLY fight in order to keep up with your upkeep costs. Especially since the income from Fiefs is garabage.

Garrisons are the troops you have sitting in your castles and towns.

the advantage is that it can cover your weekly wage. so when you hunt bandits and loot then you can just spend all your money

Besides the Rivacheg dyeworks; breweries, oil presses, and ironworks tend to have the best return on investment. The actual return varies by town and also by things that can happen during the game.

But it dosn't! A decent army of even 50 costs at least 1000 per week. At a return of 200-400 per week I'd need 5 or more businesses to pay for that. Thats 50,000-100,000 invested that isnt actually profit for 40-50 weeks!

No thanks

In Native there is usually a business in each town that breaks even after 10-20 weeks.

I am at day 120 in my current playthrough (in a mod) and I am making over 5000 a week from businesses which is just enough to cover my army of 95 elites. My mercenary contract gives me some extra spending money beyond that.

In each town focus first on investing in the business that has the best return on investment, which is not necessarily the highest income. Low performing businesses can be closed and much of the initial investment can be recovered.

First do tasks for lords and fight bandits, then join as a mercenary band. fight lords and capture them(they are worth somwhere 1400-5000 a piece) put a point or 2 into prisoner management and sell prisoners to ransom brokers in taverns(lords cannot be sold to brokers instead you will eventually get a ransom letter). Eventually become a lord after swearing fealty to a king. You will get your own village. Continue to improve relations with lords of your country and eventually you can persuade them to give you a City or Castle(helps to have high persuade level). Then you invest in an enterprise.
