The Noldor will allow you access to their castle if you have good relations with them and complete the quest given to you by Quigfen in Laria (only given once you have good relations).
The Noldor will give you very strong armor or weapons if you win a tournament there.
When Wolfbode the Slayer spawns and you come near him you will be given one of the most powerful bows in the game by a god.
Qualis gems are valuable items that allow you to purchase special items or troops.
There is a hidden chest in Rane (in a haystack) with a Qualis gem in it.
There is a hidden chest in Valonbray (on a ship) with random loot.
When you ask the travelers in taverns for rumors (costs ten monetary units) they can give you the location of a Red Brotherhood Hideout with a chest filled with random loot (can have a Qualis gem).

These are just some of the very helpful things you want to know for PoP and I would advise visiting the wiki.
P.S. sorry if I misspelled some of the names. I was just going off memory.
I don't really see the point giving you tips if you haven't even started it yet. Gaming is about discovery, learning... and failing sometimes.
Especially when it comes to a mod like PoP which has been specifically written to get the best out of you.
Sorry, no tips.
Okay, maybe one: it's a game. Play.

Don't mess with the Noldor. As in don't attack them unless you greatly outnumber and have a ton of high tier troops. Their weakest troop can massacre top-tier troops easily. Try to improve relations with them, they're the strongest obtainable troops in the game. And if you do attack them try to capture as many of them as prisoners and then release them. I think you have to talk to them though, not quite sure. But it increases relations, and I find it the fastest way to befriend them. Especially considering you can capture 30 or 40 of them from a single battle.
